Be Scary!!

Happy Halloween everyone! The kiddos are sure excited about the day! We are having a "harvest party" this afternoon. We don't celebrate Halloween at our school so we call it a harvest party. So, we will be watching a movie and having all sorts of goodies this afternoon. Then I send them home on a sugar rush!! I'm sure that most of them will be trick-or-treating tonight. They don't need too much more help being excitable!!

This is card layout I got out of a book from Close To My Heart. I made this card for a swap I was in last month but I wanted to wait and post it on Halloween. I really like the way it came out. I also did this card at my club last month. This set can be found in the Holiday mini catalog. The spider had to be colored with a black marker and then stamped four times. One to cut out and the other three to punch out. I did cut out the hat and pop it up and then popped up the spider. I hope that you find some inspiration with this layout! Have a great weekend!

P.S. The 'B' team won their game in another close one yesterday!!

Urban Daisies

Hello everyone! What a crazy day!! We had an awards ceremony first thing then a little bit of teaching time then we hiked up the hill to a building that houses elderly people. They invited the K-5th grades to come and they wanted to hand out candy to us. The kids love it! We did sing some songs so that they just loved it, too! And then we hiked back and had some time to do another assignment. Now it's lunch time and I am ready for a looooong weekend. I am hoping that the time change will help. But I do have to get through the volleyball tournament. (big breath)

Can you tell that I just love my new Upsy Daisy set? And it pairs so nicely with the Urban Garden designer paper! This set makes for a beautiful yet very simple card. The brad is one of our new filigree brads. Love them!! Anyway, easy peasy!! Hope it inspires you! Have a great day!!

Designer Paper

Good morning fellow bloggers! I hope that your "hump" day is off to a great start! I think that mine is going rather well!! Another volleyball game tonight and one tomorrow and then the tournament on Saturday. WOW! I think that I will make it?!

Today's card is very similar to yesterday's. It is the same layout (which I did get from one of Becky's card classes). What I really LOVE about this one... It's the designer paper that is doing all of the work!!! Love it! I know that this has been done before but not by me. How fun!! Anyway, I hope that you are inspired! Thanks for stopping by.

Simple Christmas Card

Good Afternoon! I am on my lunch break and I feel like my head is just going to spin right off my neck! If you don't know, I not only teach 5th graders, but I also coach middle school volleyball. Well, our season has just ended but this week is pre-tournament games and Saturday is tournament games. So, we just found out that we have a game today, one possibly tomorrow (or Thursday) and another one for sure on Thursday. Then there is the worry of what to do with your own kids... Anyway, it is just kind of crazy! I can't wait until Saturday is over and life can be the normal kind of crazy.

Today's card is one of my favorites. I have been making quite a batch of Christmas cards lately because I am trying to find one that I can mass produce in a little amount of time and with little effort and will look amazing. This could be 'the' one! It's all pretty self explanatory. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Big Shot Birthday

Good morning! I have a break and thought I would make a quick post this morning. It seems as the day goes on, I have less and less time to do the things I want to do! So, here I am!

I really liked how this card turned out. One of the cards we did at Becky's card class this month used this same layout. That's where I got the idea. I also liked how the colors all came together. I used the Hawaii Papaya designer paper. The flower is a die that I got with my Big Shot bundle. I believe this particular die was in the Birds and Blooms. So easy! I just die cut the flowers in the colors I wanted and then sponged them a little. Then I pieced them all together and put a brad in the middle! I also added a little tangerine ribbon and there you go!! Thanks for stopping by!

Holiday Treasures

Good Sunday Morning! What a great Halloween party my friend Coleen put on! She has three kids, the second one is in my class last year - I had the oldest one last year, and her youngest (my son's good friend) is in the second grade. Anyway, each of them got to invite a certain number of friends, so I got to see a lot of former and current students having the time of their life!! I really can't wait to scrap those pictures!! There were no scary costumes; just really FUN ones! And, I did not dress up. There was just no time for it. Oh well! It was all about the kids anyway! Nick came home just exhausted!

Today's card is a layout I found in a magazine (I think). Nothing could be more simple. It is two pieces of designer paper (Holiday Treasures), glued to a Kraft card. But don't forget the beautiful ribbon tied around the seam. Then I stamped Merry Christmas. I did this to show off the beautiful paper but it could use something else. I don't hate it but it's not my favorite either. I might work with this layout, though, for my own personal Christmas cards. Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Copy

Good Saturday morning! What a week it has been! I have been so busy and that helps the week fly by. And today is no exception. In a while we will be off to the first of two soccer games today (the last ones of this season), then it's off to church, then we have a Halloween party that we are going to. So, please ask me if I have bought the Halloween costume? No. I am hoping to do that in between the soccer games. Will that work. Better! The costume is for my son. But if I don't come dressed for the party my friend, Coleen, will kill me!! We want to go as a family of ninjas. Simple and fun!

Enough about me. Let's get on to the card. So, I was browsing through the latest issue of the Cards Magazine, and I saw this card. You should be able to find it pretty easily by looking at mine. I copied it pretty much like it is in the magazine. The colors are changed up slightly and my greeting is different. I think the ribbon is a little different, too. But, I just love the way it turned out! I have been wanting to use more of the Pacific Point cardstock but I am having a hard time using it, especially at this time of year. This was a pretty easy card. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

More Snow Swirled

Good Morning! I am at school early and have some time before my first conference to post. I have seven more then I am done for the day! Hopefully I will still be alive by the end! Actually, everything has been going very well and it has been great to talk to the parents.

Well, I hope that you are not too sick of this set. I got it when it was on special back in September. I really like the elegance of this set. This is a card that I came up with by combining a couple of layouts together. I made this card for a couple of swaps that I was in and it was also make-n-take for my club members. I think that they all liked it. You might not be able to tell from the photo but I did use dazzling diamonds glitter on the tree. I highlighted the snowflakes in the tree with my glue pen and then the glitter. I also cut out the 'star' for the top of the tree. That may seem a little tedious but it just looked better cut out. And, of course, it needed a gold brad. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Snow Swirled; Paper- Baja Breeze, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Whisper White, Ski Slope designer paper; Ink- Old Olive, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze; Accessories- Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain ribbon, gold brad, dazzling diamonds glitter, wide oval punch, scallop edge border punch, sponge, dimensionals

Scalloped Hi

Good early evening - or maybe it should be late afternoon. I have a little break in my conferences here at school and thought I would quickly post my card for the day. I am anxiously and not so patiently waiting for our dinner from Olive Garden!!

My card today is one that I did with my club members this month. It's a super easy card and not much to explain. The stamp is from the Say It With Scallops set which happens to be the new Ronald McDonald set. When you purchase this set, Stampin' Up! gives part of the proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House charities. It's a great cause!! Anyway, the set goes just perfectly with our new scallop square punch! The designer paper is from the new Autumn Vine collection from the Holiday mini catalog. Thanks for stopping by!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Say It With Scallops; Paper- More Mustard, Really Rust, Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Autumn Vine designer paper; Ink- More Mustard, Chocolate Chip; Accessories- Sage Shadow grosgrain ribbon, scallop square punch, scallop edge border punch, 3/4" circle punch, dimensionals

Snow Swirled

Good morning! I have found some time in my morning schedule to get a post up. Yes, I should be grading papers but this is more fun!

I hope that you all don't mind a little Christmas in October. It seems like all the stores are really gearing up for the season a little earlier than usual. I, for one, am not even close to being ready for the season!

The idea for this card came from a card that I had seen somewhere. If you had seen the card you would not even see any resemblance. I changed pretty much everything that she had done but the idea did spin off of that card. Anyway, here is my version. I will not be making these for my Christmas cards but I did kind of like the way it turned out. I hope that you all will find some inspiration as well. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!!

Pocket Silhouhettes

Good afternoon my blogging friends! I seem to have a bit of time during my lunch to post. Well, I actually should be grading spelling tests but I am going to take a short break and hopefully still be able to get them done before the students come in from recess.

I found this layout in a new book that I got from Close To My Heart. The layout was actually for a card that was a different size. So, I altered it a bit and here is what I came up with. You will find that I don't stray to much from the traditional 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 sized card. That's because I like to mail them. I really like the way it turned out! It's a fairly simple card and not too much for me to explain. I hope that it inspires you! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

CTMH Grateful

Good afternoon! I have found a little time in my lunch to post a "quickie". It's really cloudy here and I do hope it rains, as we really need it, but it doesn't look so promising. It's just one of those days that I really wish I could be by the fire in my sweats, sipping coffee and just be lazy. But no such thing! I have 21 bodies that need to be taught and so I am trying to find my energy. I am excited, though, because Sarah Palin is coming to town! I probably won't be able to see her in person but it is really great to know that she will be here!!

Today's card probably looks very similar to another one that I have done. It was the Upsy Daisy card posted last week, I believe. I do love the way this card turned out, too. It uses the stamp of the month set from Close To My Heart. Very easy and so versatile. I hope that you find some inspiration from the card and layout. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Flower Fancy

Good Sunday morning! I am so sorry that I forgot to post yesterday. It was a weird kind of day. I never even made it down to my stamp room (gasp). I guess I was out way too late the night before and just felt lazy. So, here I am and I am thinking about the week ahead. You all can think of me on Thursday and Friday as I will be conducting Parent/Teacher conferences. It's just not my favorite thing to do. I don't mind talking to the parents, but I just hope that they aren't too surprised by what I have will have to say.

Today's card is one of my favorites! I really liked how this turned out. I used a stamp set called Flower Fancy. It is a two-step set but I chose to use it as a one-step set on this card. I just stamped the flower and branch in Chocolate Chip twice - once on the white panel and once on a scrap piece (just for the flower). Then I used a blender pen to color in the leaves and flower. I cut the flower out, put a brad in the center, and popped it up. There are even some "speckles" around the card from Itty Bitty Backgrounds. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Flower Fancy, Thank You Kindly, Itty Bitty Backgrounds; Paper- Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Hawaii Papaya designer paper; Ink- Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss; Accessories- Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain ribbon, silver brad, scallop edge punch, dimensionals, sponge

More From CTMH

Ahhhhh! Today is a day off! It's a teacher workday today. The first quarter ended yesterday. WOW! I can't believe that the school year is already a fourth of the way done! Amazing! Tonight I am getting together with some other teachers from school. We haven't done this for a long time! It should be fun!! I am looking forward to it. I am also getting a MUCH needed massage this afternoon!

Today's card is one that uses Close To My Heart. Can you tell that I have recently been to a party and got some new toys to play with? This saying comes from the silhouette set that I have been showing lately. The paper is really pretty, too. Since I don't have their inks I had to find an SU! ink that would coordinate with this paper. I did use chocolate chip (a universal color) and then I found that groovy guava seemed to work pretty good. I also purchased a card layout book from CTMH and found this layout. I went together pretty easy! The ribbon is SU!'s cream wide grosgrain. I did pop up the saying with dimensionals. Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

Grateful Silhouettes

Hello Everyone! I am at my desk eating my lunch. The second grade class is celebrating World Food Day by having some great foods from around the world! A parent in that class got Olive Garden, a Chinese place and a Mexican place to donate food to eat for lunch! Isn't that too much fun!! Anyway, as a teacher I get to go "horn" in on their lunch. Thank you Mrs. Shive!! It is totally awesome! And to think, I was just going to have good ole pb&j. This is much better!!

O.k., to the card. I think that this layout turned out pretty nice. I just love these stamps from Close To My Heart! This set was their September stamp of the month. It is a set of different silhouettes. The paper is from them as well. I did use ribbon from Stampin' Up!. Very simple and quick to put together. Enjoy!

Big Shot Snowflake

Good afternoon! I think that I am currently caught up at school! I have a little time while my kiddos are at P.E. and it is nice and quiet. Ahhh! Just the way I like it. Anyway, I thought that I would do my post now. I have card class tonight at Becky's. I am looking forward to that as I love to get new card layout ideas!

Today's card is a simple layout that I saw somewhere. I seem to be using this one a lot. I even made another snowflake card very similar to this one that I will post soon, too. I finally got my Big Shot out and used it! I got the snowflake embossing folder and it goes through the Big Shot machine great!! I used cardstock from Close To My Heart. Their paper has a white core so when it goes through the embossing folder the creases makes the paper white. So, I took a sanding block and "scuffed" it up a bit more. I thought it turned out pretty cool! I also used the snowflakes sizzlets and cut out the snowflake with my Big Shot. Yes, I LOVE the Big Shot!! I am going to have some fun with this machine! The ribbon, stamps, and ink are from Stampin Up! Thanks for stopping by!

CTMH Grateful

Good evening! I just got back from my workshop. It was a club and two of the five ladies couldn't be there so it was a small group but a lot of fun! This will be short as I need to put the order in - Yea!!

I will be honest... I really don't like this card at all. I like the layout a lot. In fact, you will remember me using it on another card just a few days ago (verve flower). That one I did like. Anyway, I thought I would post because you never know when someone will get something out of it. So, here you go. I do hope that you all try the layout. It is simple and very versatile! All supplies are from Close To My Heart. Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Daisies

Good Sunday morning to all! I am up and trying to keep warm! It got VERY windy and a lot chillier overnight. But we didn't get the rain that was promised. Bummer. The wind really dried everything out. At least it didn't rain during the soccer game. The poor boys... every time they kicked the ball it would either go way too far up the field (going with the wind) or they would have to work really hard to get it the direction they wanted it to go when they were kicking against the wind! It was a sight when they goalie would kick the ball into the wind and it would actually come right back at them!! It was a fun day, though!

Today's card is from a layout that I got while at my friend, Emily's house. She had a card posted on her cabinet using this layout (minus the words) with the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set. I thought it was so cute that I wanted to make one with a different set. Here's my version. I really liked the way it turned out! And, it was very easy!! I will probably be using this one in a workshop sometime. I did cut a whole piece of Whisper White cardstock 3 3/4" x 2 1/2" and stamped the image. Then I cut the image apart at 1 1/4". I hope this helps you all out. I, too, had to measure mine! Thanks for stopping by!

Verve Flower

Good Saturday morning! I hope that you are all having a great weekend! I need to make this post quick, grab a cup of coffee and get my make-n-take ready for my meeting today. Oh, yeah. And I should probably take a shower before I go!! I also need to make sure that my son is ready for his soccer game. Anyway, lots to do!

This card is done from a sketch that I have. I did this layout on another card that I should have shown first. I don't like the other card at all but I LOVE this one! I think it turned out just great! I want to try this layout using all Stampin' Up! so I can use it in a workshop. But the colors are just so soft and serene. The stamps are from Verve. They are so much fun! The rest is from Stampin' Up!. The paper is Garden Tea from the Idea Book & Catalog. The coordinating colors are Certainly Celery, Old Olive and Baja Breeze. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Verve Butterfly

Good evening! It's finally FRIDAY!!! I am so tired! I didn't sleep good last night and I am so ready to go to bed. But I need to get a swap done, get a make-n-take ready for a small demonstrator meeting we are having tomorrow morning. Why oh why do I do this to myself? Oh, well. It will get done. Even if I do have prop my eyelids open with toothpicks!
Today's card is from a sketch that I have. In fact, I have done several cards using this same layout. So, be ready to see lots more ideas like this one! The butterfly stamp is from a company called Verve. I just love this butterfly! The greeting comes from this set, too. It says, 'Just because'. The designer paper is called Sherbet from the Stampin' Up! catalog. I fell in love with it right away. However, the colors don't exactly fit the time of year. But I do love the brightness of them! Something different. The coordinating colors are Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Gable Green and Apricot Appeal. For the butterfly, I stamped it in Tempting Turquoise and cut it out. I then punched out a circle from Green Galore and put adhesive on the butterfly's body so that I could gently fold up the wings and make it a little more 3-D. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Scary!

Good evening everyone! I am sorry that I have neglected my posts. I just get so busy and then I come home so tired that I just plain forget! But here I am now.

Today's card is a layout that I got from a sketch. This is one that I am not sure that I really like. It's o.k. but not my favorite. I did make some other Halloween cards that I like much better! I will show that one next week. I am going to make this short as I need to get back to making sure my son is getting his homework done! I can hear him upstairs goofing off! Not good. Anyway, thanks for stopping by and I will try to remember to post tomorrow! Have a great evening!

Single Flower

Hello Everyone! I realized late yesterday that I forgot to post something. And then tonight, as I am sitting and watching my son do homework, I realized, again, that I still hadn't posted. So, here I am. This will be quick because I need to make sure that my son gets his homework done!
This card is definitely not my favorite. I had seen such a cute card done with a single flower in a vase. I tried to improvise and this is what came out. What I liked about the one I saw was that it was just so simple and clean. I wanted to play with my new Verve stamps. I really love them! They are so much fun! I have a few more that I will be showing you over the next few weeks. I do hope that the layout inspires you even if the card doesn't. Have a great evening and a great mid-week tomorrow! I will try to remember to post a little earlier. Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas?

Good Sunday morning! Hope your weekend is going great. Lots of football to watch today! And I think that the sun is even going to shine a little today! I do hope that I find some time between laundry piles to stamp a little.

Today's card is a very basic and simple one. I'm sure that I have done it before but it works. This set is Snow Swirled that I just got. I was in need of a few more Christmas sets so I got this one when it was on special last month. I really like it but it is hard to know what to do with the tree. The paper is from the new Holiday mini. It's called Ski Slope and the coordinating colors are Real Red, Baja Breeze, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip. Fun Christmas colors! I am still experimenting to find out what I would like to do for my Christmas card this year. That's the fun part!! Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Fall Is In The Air

Good Saturday morning everyone! I can't believe the weekend is here already! When you have some days off from school, you really don't want the weekend to come! But it's here and I will still try my best to enjoy it. At least there are no soccer games today! That means more time to stamp!!! I had so much fun yesterday! My friend, Becky, and I went to Delta to a new scrapbook store that has just opened. While it's small she has some really cool things in it. It's such a nice store! Then we came back to GJ and stopped in at Hobby Lobby and I picked up a few more things. Then at Becky's (she has a store, too), I got my Scor-Pal. Can't wait to try that out!! Then we stamped the evening away! I got a few more cards done that I will share with you all.
Today's card is like other card layouts that I have done before. I really love this layout. It is simple and quick. This card is pretty self-explanatory. I did cut out the two leaves and one is glued to the card while the other is popped up. Some really fun fall colors. The designer paper is from the Autumn Vine collection in the new Holiday mini catalog. I love that Stampin' Up! put these colors together! The coordinating colors for this packet are Sage Shadow, Really Rust, More Mustard, and Chocolate Chip. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Eastern Bloom

Good Friday morning! Yes, I am back!! Actually, I have been around, just not where I want to be! It has been so crazy!! Never enough time to do the things you want and not enough time to get the things done you have to!!

School is going great but it seems like I have more to do this year. I do have more kids in my class. And, right now I am coaching volleyball, too. So, that means practices and games! I can't wait until that is all over! November 1!!! Then you should be hearing from me more often.

Anyway, our school has had the last three days off. It has been so nice! The teachers went out for breakfast on Wednesday and then my friend Coleen and I just roamed Main Street and had a coffee and sat outside and watched people and talked. Yes, we work together and we even coach together but we still hardly see each other! Then we went back to her place and did some DDR! That was fun! Yesterday, I went to my friend Emily's house and we stamped! That was a blast! I got a few more cards done and will be sharing them in the upcoming days. And today I am going to my friend Becky's house to stamp some more! I should have plenty to share! The question will be will I have time to post them? Hopefully! So, don't give up on me. Just keep checking back.

Today's card is one that I made a while ago. I think I used a sketch of some kind to create this. I kind of like how it came out. For the words I did use markers to ink them up in different colors. The rest is just like it looks! Take care and have a great weekend! We are in for some changes around here. It will finally start feeling like fall. I will be back!!
