SFF 072613

Good morning, Friends! It's Friday!! That means the Sketch Frenzy Friday team has another sketch for you to try! This week's sketch was created by Patrice Herrera. Take a look!

I have to admit that when I see sketches like these I can get "hung up" on the shapes that are in the sketch. Like the rectangles here. But once I let go of that I can see other shapes instead. So here is what I came up with!

Instead of rectangles, I used the mosaic shapes! And I came up with something that still stuck to the sketch! Here are the card details:

  • Card base is Sahara Sand
  • A layer of Sahara Sand went through the Big Shot with the Modern Mosaic TIEF then was adhered to a piece of Strawberry Slush and then popped up onto the card base
  • Stamp three mosaic images from Mosaic Madness in Sahara Sand onto Sahara Sand and punch out with mosaic punch
  • Use the itty bitty shapes punch pack to punch out three flower images from Strawberry Slush and adhere to punched mosaics
  • Pop up two mosaics onto card and add rhinestones
  • Stamp sentiment from Sweet Essentials onto a strip of Whisper White using Strawberry Slush, flag the end and adhere to card
  • Pop up third mosaic onto card, add a bow tied with white baker's twine and a large rhinestone
Pretty simple card to make thanks to all those great coordinating punches!! Be sure to see what the other designers did with this sketch at the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog. I hope to see your creation linked up this week! Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Sweet Essentials, Mosaic Madness; Paper- Sahara Sand, Strawberry Slush, Whisper White; Ink- Sahara Sand, Strawberry Slush; Accessories- Modern Mosaic TIEF, mosaic punch, itty bitty shapes punch pack, white baker's twine, rhinestones, dimensionals

Love this sketch! So many wonderful possibilities! I kept pretty much to the sketch and I used the Color Coach to help me with some color choices. Take a look!

My Color Coach suggested Soft Suede, Pool Party and Daffodil Delight and I pulled out the Morning Meadow hostess set to pull it all together! Here are the card details:

  • Card base is Soft Suede
  • Layer of Soft Suede
  • On layer of Soft Suede stamp branch image from Morning Meadow in Soft Suede then pierce circle using the Essentials paper piercing pack
  • Stamp greeting in Soft Suede
  • Use dotted ribbon scallop punch to punch a strip of Daffodil Delight and adhere to Soft Suede panel
  • Pop panel up onto card
  • On Whisper White stamp bird image in Pool Party, cut out and pop up onto card
  • From Daffodil Delight card stock punch flower using itty bitty shapes punch pack and adhere to bird
  • Adhere a rhinestone to flower center

Etcetera Squares

Good morning, Friends! Are you ready for a great weekend? It should be another quiet one for us. Nick was supposed to be playing in a 3v3 soccer tournament but it got cancelled so that leaves it open for doing whatever! I need to get some stamping done and I have a few sewing projects to finish.

Today's card was inspired by one I saw in a stamp store quite a while ago. I had taken a picture of it so I could recreate it. Of course I had to change it all up and use Stampin' Up! products but the layout is pretty much the same. Here are the card details:

  • Card base is Baked Brown Sugar
  • Layer of Baked Brown Sugar
  • On layer stamp images from Gorgeous Grunge in Baked Brown Sugar (I did stamp off once before stamping onto card stock) and sponge with Baked Brown Sugar
  • Stamp greeting from Four You in Night of Navy then adhere layer to card base
  • Cut three squares from Etcetera designer paper, round opposite corners and sponge with Baked Brown Sugar
  • Pop up two squares onto card
  • With the third square, tie a piece of linen thread around it (I wrapped mine around three times) and then pop up onto card
There you have it! Pretty simple and a fun way to show off the designer paper! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Midnight Mosaic

Good morning, Friends! I didn't sleep very well last night and that's why I slept in so late. Nick has a friend over and they decided to put the tent up and sleep outside. Well, late into the night a storm decided to roll through. Normally the storms don't really do much but there was a lot of lightning with this one. I think the bulk of the storm went around us but we did end up with quite a bit of rain (yea) and the boys didn't put the rain cover over the tent. Well, I spent most of the night worrying about them and it ends up that at some point, they came into the house to sleep! Geesh! So now I am super tired! I do hope I am able to get something done!!

Today's card was inspired by one I had seen on the Hero Arts blog. Here are the card details:

  • Card base is Whisper White
  • Layer of Whisper White that was run through the Big Shot with the Modern Mosaic TIEF and then adhered to card base
  • Layer of Whisper White that was punched with the extra-large oval punch, stamped greeting from Petite Pairs in Midnight Muse and tied with a piece of Midnight Muse stitched satin ribbon then popped up onto card
  • On Whisper White stamp image from Mosaic Madness once in Midnight Muse and once in Marina Mist
  • Punch out Midnight Muse one using the mosaic punch and hand cut inside of Marina Mist one then adhere together and then adhere to card
  • Punch three shapes from Midnight Muse using itty bitty shapes punch pack and adher to card
  • Add rhinestones to centers
There you have it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Holiday Mini Sneak Peek

Good morning, Friends! I thought we might have a good storm here last night but I think we got more thunder and lightning and wind than any thing else. I think it rained more in town than out at our place. Bummer. Nick spent the night at a friend's house and they are supposed to be coming here later today to spend the night. I guess I might want to get Nick's stuff picked up!! I keep telling myself that one day he will know how to do that? Lol!! And I still need to get some stamping done! Don't know how much time I will have for that...

Today's card was created to show off some of the new products from the Holiday Mini catalog. This will be available to the public starting August 1. Demonstrators got to pre-order to get some samples ready and to tease our customers. I am in a swap where fall and Halloween are the theme and this was one I was trying out. It didn't end up as the swap card but just a sample. Here are the card details:

  • Card base is Very Vanilla
  • Layer of Very Vanilla with a strip of Witch's Brew dsp and a strip of Pumpkin Pie adhered to it - flag the bottom of both strips
  • Tie a piece of Summer Starfruit stitched satin ribbon around panel and pop up onto card
  • Cut label shape from Very Vanilla using Labels framelits dies
  • Stamp skull image from Halloween Hello in black StazOn onto label
  • Adhere a strip of Witch's Brew dsp to label then pop up onto card
  • Stamp greeting onto scrap of Very Vanilla, cut around it and adhere to card
  • Use Chevron punch to punch three chevrons from Summer Starfruit and adhere to label
Please note that the stamp set, Halloween Hello, the dsp, Witch's Brew, and the Chevron punch will not be available until August 1. These are super fun products and I can't wait to show you all more!! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Washi Butterfly

Good morning, Friends! Oh what a glorious rain we had in the wee hours of the morning. I think it started around 2:00 a.m. I know that we had a great rain because our barnyard has a little "pond" right now! It even thundered a few times! Love that!! Now it's humid but we do need the rain. We went and saw The Lone Ranger yesterday. And we LOVED it!! What a FUN movie!! My husband wants to see it again - lol!

Today's card was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest. Mine is different than hers but the idea is the same. I thought it would be a great way to use the washi tape! Card details:

  • Card base is Whisper White
  • On the layer of Whisper White, adhere three strips of the Gingham Garden washi tape and stamp the sentiment from Sweet Essentials in Night of Navy then pop panel up onto card
  • Punch butterfly from silver glimmer paper then use 2 1/2" circle punch to punch out around the already punched out butterfly
  • Use the Pennant die to cut a scallop circle from Night of Navy and then adhere to silver glimmer paper
  • Pop up onto card
  • Thread white baker's twine through a vintage faceted button and adhere to middle of butterfly
There you have it! Pretty simple! Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Shoebox Club Card 0713

Good morning, Friends! Are you all ready for a great weekend? I hope ours is quiet and relaxing. There is nothing planned so that is looking good! It is supposed to rain today and that would be great as it is really humid around here! Ugh! Our air conditioner just doesn't work at all with the humidity. I got a lot of laundry done yesterday so I can focus on stamping today - I hope!! Yesterday I finally got my molds for the Simply Pressed Clay that Stampin' Up! sells! I was so excited to give it a try and spent most of the afternoon making buttons and blossoms! It was so much fun! Now I have them ready for a project whenever I might want to use one! Can't wait to show you all!

Today's card was a total copy of Connie Babbert. She did her card for this week's Create with Connie and Mary challenge and I just loved everything about it! So I decided to use it for the monthly shoebox club that I am in. And I think those ladies loved it, too! I did have to substitute a few things but it is pretty much a copy! Here are the card details:

  • Cut two pieces of Pear Pizzazz card stock using the Oval Accent die
  • Run one of those pieces through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots TIEF and score the other towards the top
  • Put Sticky Strip above the scored line and adhere to embossed piece then use paper trimmer to trim a little off the bottom so that the card will stand
  • Us Oval framelits to cut an oval from Whisper White
  • Stamp greeting from Four You in Melon Mambo onto oval and adhere to card
  • Stamp flower image from Flower Shop in Daffodil Delight two times onto Whisper White and punch out with Pansy punch
  • Pop one flower up onto card
  • Punch flower from Melon Mambo using Blossom punch and pop up onto card
  • Pop other yellow flower onto the blossom punch
  • Punch two flower centers from Gingham Garden designer paper using itty bitty punch pack, adhere to flower centers and add rhinestones
  • Cut two strips of Gingham Garden designer paper and flag the ends
  • Tuck these behind the flowers
There you have it! Pretty simple and oh so cute! Thanks, Connie! And thank you for stopping by! Have a fantastic day!

CCMC 260 A

Good morning everyone! It's time for another fabulous Thursday challenge from the Create with Connie and Mary team! This challenge will be just a bit different from the others as the annual Stampin' Up! convention is next week and some of the design team will be attending. Me? Nope. I will not be going this year :( So CCMC 260 will go for two weeks and will have two different challenges. You can choose to do just one of the challenges or combine them and do both! I chose to do just the color challenge. Take a look at these fabulous colors!

Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding are the colors to use! Aren't they gorgeous?! Love these colors and I will be using them again! Here's how I put them together!

I found an older sketch from CCMC and used it to help me create this card. Here are the details:

  • Card base is Crisp Cantaloupe
  • Layer of Pistachio Pudding that was run through the Big Shot with the Modern Mosaic TIEF
  • Whisper White layer was stamped with the outline image from Mosaic Madness in Crisp Cantaloupe three times and the sentiment from Four You in Pistachio Pudding
  • Whisper White layer is adhered to a piece of Calypso Coral
  • A strip Calypso Coral and a strip of Pistachio Pudding are flagged at one end and then adhered to the back of the panel
  • Panel is then popped up onto card
  • Stamp inside images on Whisper White using Calypso Coral three times, cut out and pop up onto card
  • Rhinestones are added to the centers
There you have it! Be sure to check out what the other designers did with the challenges at Create with Connie and Mary! Remember that you have two weeks to participate! I hope to see your creation linked up! We always love to see what you do! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Serene Scene

Good morning, Friends! It's going to be another hot and busy day around here! The weatherman is forecasting that the monsoons should start tomorrow. And I hope he's right!! So dry. So hot. But with the monsoons then it will be so hot and so humid!! Lol!! But we do need the moisture! I still need to get some laundry done but it is hard to get motivated when my dryer will be adding heat to the house. I also need to stamp. And then there's Nick who has another meet up with a friend at the pool. And I finally get a hair cut! So we will see how much gets done!

Today's card was inspired by Michelle Zindorf. In fact I copied her card (for the most part) and used her tutorial. I will never be as good as Michelle but I tried and it was fun and not as hard as I had been making it out to be! You see, a couple of weeks ago, my father-in-law turned 80! And I needed a card as we had a birthday party for him. So I went searching for card ideas for him that would "fit" him. And I came across this one! Perfect! Be sure to check out Michelle's tutorial on making this one! Here are the card details:

  • Card base is Old Olive
  • Layer of Old Olive with sentiment from Four You stamped in black StazOn and three mini brads then popped up onto card base
  • Follow Michelle's tutorial for the Whisper White panel. I made it exactly the same but I used Island Indigo and Pool Party for my blues.
  • Whisper White panel is adhered to Basic Black panel and then popped up onto card
Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Serene Silhouettes, Four You; Paper- Old Olive, Basic Black, Whisper White; Ink- black StazOn, Old Olive, Pool Party, Island Indigo, So Saffron; Accessories- mini brads, sponges, dimensionals

Retro 69

Good morning, Friends! I hope your week is off to a fabulous start! We are just clicking along trying to stay cool! Looks like another scorcher today with no rain possible. Dang! Have to take Nick to a friend's house and then I am off to get a massage! Ahhh!! I need one so badly! My back and neck will get some much needed attention! Then maybe I will feel better! I wonder if I will feel like stamping this afternoon? :)

Today's card was inspired by the sketch at Retro Sketches. This one is actually from a few week's ago and that's when I had made my card. So at the time it was current - lol! But I still like the way it turned out and it's a great sketch! One I will be using again! Here are the card details:

  • Card base is Crumb Cake
  • Layer of Early Espresso with end punched using the scallop edge border punch
  • Layer of Very Vanilla with top right corner rounded using the 1" circle punch
  • Stamp branch from Morning Meadow using Crumb Cake and sentiment using Early Espresso onto Very Vanilla layer
  • Add two mini brads to panel, tie some Pool Party seam binding ribbon around this and pop up onto card
  • Stamp bird in Pool Party onto Very Vanilla, cut out and pop up onto card
Very simple! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a super day!

PCCCS 47

Good morning, Friends! I hope you all had a super great Fourth and a fantastic weekend! I am back from my trip to see my family in Kansas! We got back last night with time to unpack and unwind a little from the long drive. We had SO much fun setting off firecrackers - well, Nick did! This is almost as fun as Christmas for him! And the fireworks show was a huge hit! We even had people stop along the road to watch! We really know how to do it - lol!! Now it's back to the regularly scheduled events of the week. Nick has a haircut and I need to go grocery shopping.

Today's card was one I did for a recent swap. I used the sketch at Paper Craft Crew Challenges to help me with the layout and the Color Coach helped me pick out some different colors. • Card base is Summer Starfruit

  • Tie Summer Starfruit stitched satin ribbon around this and pop up onto card base

  • Adhere circle to card by tucking the top part up under the ribbon
