Friday Sketch

Hello all! I wanted to get this post up quick this morning as i have no idea what the day will bring. It will prove to be a busy one, though.
Today's card is from Amy R's Friday sketch #55. This sketch gave me a good excuse to use my oval nestabilities. I haven't used them much and I really do love them. I also got to use the Sweet Slumber designer paper. I love the color combination in this package! This was a fun sketch. I can't wait to participate again!

Two Challenges

Hello everyone! Well, I can't believe it snowed last night. The wind sure did howl and once that stopped it started snowing. Not a lot - thank goodness. I know that many places have received much more than we did so I am thankful for that. But it is just a bummer that I go from wearing capris and chacos to turtlenecks and boots!! Oh well. What are you going to do? This week should warm up. I hope it does as we are having a baseball day on Thursday! That should be fun!!
For today's card I decided to combine two challenges. I took Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge and Techno Stamper's sketch challenge and put them together on one card. Here is my result! The colors seemed very springy/summery. Something that I have been having a lot of fun with is making the inverting triangle on my greetings. I read somewhere that you could take your arrow punch and punch the top part of the arrow out of the end of your cardstock! Now how easy is that? Another friend of mine said she uses her Photo Corners punch. I haven't tried that one yet. Give it a try. It's so easy!!

Color Inspiration #47

Good Sunday morning! I hope that you all have had a great weekend! I can't believe that it's almost over.

Today's card is my entry for Kristina's color challenge. When I saw the colors I knew that I could come up with something. These colors are right up my alley. I used the new Great Friend set from the upcoming mini catalog. There isn't much else to say. Be sure to chek her blog for other great entries. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Simple Flower

Good Saturday morning! Well, it is going to start out being a busy day for us as we have baseball practice and then we fly into town to have our soccer pictures taken and then a soccer game! But then we come home and can relax (I think). So, I am hoping to stamp quite a bit this afternoon and this evening. Still loving organized and somewhat clean craft room!!

Today's card was inspired by a card I had seen somewhere. I loved the layout so much that I sketched it out and then came up with this. Of course I had to change it up a bit but I love how it came out. Like I said, this flower stamp is one of my favorites! I think it's almost time to order some new stamps!! Ha!! Anyway, I hope you all enjoy your day! Thanks for stopping by!

Single Flower

Good evening everyone! Boy am I late in posting today! It has been just a little crazy around here. But I will do this quickly and then be on my home!

I saw a card on another blog that sparked an idea for a card and this is what emerged. I really like the simplicity of it. I took the flower stem from the Flower Fancy stamp set and masked off part of the stem with masking tape to only ink up the flower and the one stem. Don't forget to take the tape off before stamping!! It's all very simple and self explanatory! Have a great weekend!

Mojo Monday #79

Hello my blogging friends! Snow, rain, sun, clouds, wind, cold - that about describes the day. Now imagine 18 fifth graders with those same personalities! Yikes! I sure wish the weather would figure itself out. Then maybe my students would be able to focus a bit better? Well, maybe. Anyway, we continue to plug along.

Today's card is based on the Mojo Monday sketch #79. I have so much fun playing along with sketch challenges! This sketch was super! I wanted so much to pull out my Fifth Avenue Floral but I was afraid that it might end up looking a lot like last week's card. So, I decided to take a different route. As I was scanning my stamp collection I came across this set, Embrace Life. I remember when this set was the one I used ALL the time! I dusted it off and used it for this sketch. It was all pretty easy to put together. Thanks for stopping by and have a warmer day than I am!

Very Versatile

Hello friends! I hope that you are having a wonderful week. Things are going pretty good here at school. It just seems like we all have spring fever so bad!! It is really hard for the students to stay focused! And I can't say that it's any different for me. I have a stack of papers to grade and should be doing lesson plans but this is way more fun! Now if the weather would just cooperate...

Today's card, I am sure, was inspired from somewhere but I really can't remember - oops! Another really easy card. This set is from the new Occasions mini catalog which will unveil April 1! It is filled with so many beautiful stamp sets and accessories! This set is called Very Versatile. It has this weedy looking thing and then a bunch of words. Love it!! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

P.S. Thank you for all your wonderful comments on my patchwork top note die card! You guys are the best!!

Top Note Patchwork

Good afternoon (almost)! I hope that you are all doing great! It's a tough day here in fifth grade. We have spent most of the morning taking tests. I have felt three days behind since yesterday! I am starting to get caught up but it has been rough for me too!! And then because it's spring, school is the last thing on our minds! But we must focus and continue to plod along.

Today's card was inspired by others that I had seen on Splitcoast stampers. I have this top note die from Stampin' Up! and hadn't had a chance to use it. So, when I needed a project for shoebox club a few weeks ago I thought it was the perfect time to put it to good use! So, here is what I came up with! I just love this paper!! And it is a really fun card to make! Not hard at all!! I took the advice of others - Cut a 5" x 3 3/4" piece of cardstock. Then punch 12 squares of designer paper with the 1 1/4" square punch. Then glue all the squares onto the piece of cardstock. Then run the cardstock with the designer paper face down through the big shot with the top note die. There you have it! Thanks for stopping by!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #1

Hello my blogging friends! I hope that your week is off to a fantastic start! Well, the wind did blow last night!!!! WOW! It was quite powerful! So, the allergies are sure annoying! Anyway, it doesn't look much like spring anymore.

Today's card was inspired by a couple of different sources. First, the colors come from Dawn McVey's new color challenge, Raspberry Suite. She has decided to start hosting her own color challenge. I was really excited to see her start doing this! She uses some unique colors together and I could never figure out how she could come up with some of these combinations! Now I will get to try some out for myself! You can see the color challenge here. Second, my layout came from the recent Stampin' Success magazine. This is a magazine that only Stampin' Up! demonstrators get to help with their creativity and business. Anyway, I love to do these various challenges. It keeps me from getting too much into a 'rut'. There are so many wonderful ideas out there! I hope that you are all inspired as well! Thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful Butterflies

Good Sunday morning! It turned out to be a fantastic weekend. Today it is supposed to turn worse but so far it looks to be beautiful! Who knows? I guess it still turn icky later on. This week is supposed to be wet and colder. We could use the rain but I think that I am really ready for the warmer temperatures. We will see what really happens...

Today's card was inspired from this sketch over at Diva Coffee Break Designs - another blog I found while 'blurfing'. I feel like I need to say 'excuse me' after I type that word!! Anyway, I got my new cutter bee circle scissors and my new butterfly die from Stampin' Up! the other day. So, when I found this sketch with the circle I thought I would break in my new toys right away!! I also got to play with my new corduroy buttons. Very fun!! The designer paper is from the new mini catalog debuting in April! It is called Walk In The Park. Love it! It coordinates with Cameo Coral, Basic Gray, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, and So Saffron. I hope that you are inspired! Have a great day!!

Praying Tree

Good Saturday morning! Man it's an early one today! Nick has his first soccer game this morning. We are having a hard time getting him up! He has been practicing since the first part of February so I think that he is ready to start playing some games. I know I am ready to start cheering for him! But I sure do hate these early mornings! I guess I will just have to take a nap later - ha!!

Today's card was inspired from the recent Stamp It magazine. The card I took the layout from actually opened from the side and was up and down instead of opening from the bottom. And I ended up leaving off some layers. Other than that this turned out to be a super simple card! I got to use my new scallop oval punch from the upcoming mini catalog (set to debut on April 1). Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Friendly Butterfly

Good morning friends! I am finding a quiet moment to put up a quick post. This doesn't happen very often so I want to take advantage of it! Happy first day of spring! It is going to be a wonderful day here!!

Today's card was inspired by the recent Stamp It magazine. I think it was another Dawn McVey card. Of course I switched it up a bit but I really like the way it turned out. It is pretty simple! I even got to use one of my new corduroy brads. Those things are pretty cool!! They come in two different sizes and there are buttons in there too! Love it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Mojo Monday #78

Good day everyone! I hope that you are all enjoying your Thursday! Super sunny and wonderful here!! Next week will bring a different kind of weather but I will enjoy what is before me!

I guess I had too much vacation time - Ha!! No, not really. But, I found several blogs that do sketches. And I do love a good sketch. So, a sketch was the inspiration for this card. Today's sketch comes from the Mojo Monday blog. And I used this sketch. It was different than anything I have done before and I challenged myself to come up with something. And here it is! Don't look too closely at my rounded bottom (on the card, I mean). I used a brad container, which worked great but I didn't take the time to make sure I centered it properly. I also used the texturz plates for this card. I hope you like! Thanks for stopping by!

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #61

Good morning! Kids are in music at this moment and I thought I could quickly post my card for today! Yes, I have a pile of papers to grade and I need to work on lesson plans for next week but I really wanted to get this out. So here goes!

While 'blurfing' (I think that is the technical term for browsing while surfing blogs) the other day, I found a super blog hosted by Mary Jo Price-Williams. Love it!!! Well, she does these fabulous sketch challenges and I decided to try and play along. Here is the sketch that I tried to follow. As you can see, mine came out a little different. But it gave me a great starting point. This is really a super simple card. I hope that you are inspired today! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone! I hope that you are all wearing green! We got to wear jeans and green today so that made coming back to school a little more bearable. We are making it through pretty good, though. It's lunchtime already and the afternoon seems to go pretty quickly.

Today's card was inspired by one I saw on Splitcoast. I changed it up a bit. I don't have any St. Patrick's Day stamps so this was a great inspiration for me! I do have the Holiday Blitz stamp set and Define Your Life stamp set. I used the 'l' word - lucky. So, it's not my original idea but I thought it was very clever! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Fifth Avenue

Good Monday morning my friends! Tomorrow at this time I will be teaching away! I can't believe that my break is over. It has been a good one, though! I got a LOT accomplished in my craft room! I threw away a TON of stuff and I was able to organize my work space. Because of organizing the work space, I find that I am spending a lot more time stamping! I can find everything I need so much more quickly! I just love it!! I do have a few more cupboards and drawers to go through but I will get there soon! I also have a ton of stuff to give to a good friend of mine who loves to scrapbook. I also need to list my retired stamps and try to sell them. Only 47 more days until summer break. Then I will try to accomplish all that then. Anyway, I guess I am ready to get back to work.

Today's card was inspired by the latest Cards magazine. It came out totally different but I like it! Someone commented that this set was made for me. That made me giggle because when I was making out my initial order this set was not on it. It was kind of a last minute add-on. Ha!! And this set has quickly become my absolute favorite! I am trying to use other sets so you all don't get bored with seeing the same thing over and over. Anyway, I hope that you are inspired. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

God's Beauty

Good Sunday morning! Yesterday I had trouble getting my post to show up. I was about to give up and try this one but I found a 'trick' and made it appear late last night (finally). So, I hope that the same thing doesn't happen today! It also explains why I was talking about what would happen that day and by the time it appeared, it had already happened! O.k. I don't even know if that sentence made sense but that is what happened. Very frustrating! It was a great day yesterday! A long day but a great one! Nick did awesome at his tryouts! He said he was nervous but you couldn't tell. He just got out there and did what he knew to do. Now we just wait for the 'draft' and find out what team he is on. Hence, the busy spring sports season starts!

today's card is from a sketch that I had found in my files (I think). Again, I made this one a few weeks ago and I can't remember. Sorry. I really like the clean simple look of it. This set is a level one hostess set, God's Beauty. I have a few more cards coming up using this set. The butterfly in this set is just gorgeous! Anyway, thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Another Fifth Avenue

Good Saturday morning! It's a lovely day here in western Colorado! This afternoon my son has baseball tryouts. I have to laugh every time I think about a 9-year old being 'drafted'! Doesn't that sound funny? I think so! But I am so excited for him. He wants to get serious about baseball so this will be really good for him.

On to the card... My inspiration for this card came from the recent Cards magazine (I think). It has been a while since I made this one but I am pretty sure that is where it came from. Another simple design. I just love this set! I can't wait until my Manhattan texture plate comes in! I am looking forward to seeing what I can do with that one! I also ordered the butterfly dies! Ooooh! I will be needing another spring break to play!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Color Inspiration #45

Good Friday morning! I am sure that if you had a full work week you are really happy it's Friday. But for me that means the official end to my break. I knew it had to come to an end and I am really happy for all the work that I did accomplish this week. I even had time to spend with friends and time to stamp! I am looking forward to more vacation time to be able to really get my room exactly the way I want it!

I even had time to get a card done for Kristina Werner's color challenge! I haven't done one in quite a while and she has had some really great colors to challenge us with! So, I got to work yesterday to be able to post today. The colors were Basic Black, Basic Gray and Whisper White. Sounds easy, right? Well... It wasn't quite that easy. But here is what I came up with. I wanted something very simple and I think that this really fits the bill. This layout was inspired by a card in the Stampin' Up! catalog. I changed it up but it was a starting point. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Curly Labels

Goooood morning! I have to say that I am a little worried for myself. Each day of my spring break I am sleeping in a little later and later. That's not good! For when Tuesday comes around (and it will sooner than I want), I will be needing to get up MUCH earlier than I have been. I am sure that I will adjust but not very easily. Needless to say, I have enjoyed every minute of my break and I know that I will be rested when it is time to go back.

Today's card was inspired by a card that Dawn McVey had published in the recent Cards magazine. I just LOVE her style! People have said that they love my clean and simple style. Well, you should take a look at her blog! She is the queen of clean and simple. A lot of my inspiration comes from her. Anyway, I did change the background paper that I used. Talk about simple... the only thing stamped was the greeting! But don't look to close at my stamped greeting. I got a little 'tic' mark when I stamped it. UGH! I hate it when that happens! And it was the last thing I did! Anyway, thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!!

Catalog CASE

Good morning everyone! I feel like my spring break is going way to quickly! Yikes!! I wish I could slow time down when I wanted to and speed it up at others. But I do not have control over that so I must learn to be content in all my circumstances. The weather has just been crazy around here. One day it is sunny and warm and the next day it is windy cloudy cold and even a little snow might fall! Today is sunny (not quite warm yet). Tomorrow? Yeah, it is supposed to rain and be colder! We will see what really happens.

Today's card is one that I copied from the Stampin' Up! catalog. I did use different stamps but everything else is pretty much the same! It was pretty easy and self-explanatory. The little 'knot' is made from a very thin piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock. You just have to be careful not to pull too hard or you will tear your paper! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Springy Friend

Hello everyone! As I was posting this morning I realized that I have springy thanks, springy birthday and now it's spring friend! Guess I am feeling a little springy!! I thought that I would update you on my spring cleaning/purging/organizing of my stamp room. I actually started Saturday and each day I have thrown more and more away (I didn't do anything on Sunday). I have only two more places that I need to go through and throw away but then I am ready to set up and organize! I also went to Hobby Lobby and Office Depot to get some organizational items as well. Now I am finding that I may need more! I am really excited! It's starting to look really good. And, except for the trash that needs to be taken out, I can walk around on the floor!! My counter tops are clear. Can't wait to start using the space like it's supposed to be used!

On to the card! This card was inspired by the recent Cards Magazine. Again, not my style. I do love the colors. I don't know... It didn't turn out the way I had it pictured in my head. I really hate that when that happens! But, it isn't bad either. I do hope it inspires you somehow! Thanks for stopping by!

Springy Birthday

Good morning! I am finally back! I thought that I would have had a card to post during the weekend but I got so caught up in cleaning and throwing away that I didn't even take time to stop and stamp. (gasp!) But yesterday, I had my weekly stamping time with Becky and I was able to get some cards ready! And I am very optimistic that this week will find me in my stamp room doing even more! And that's because I am expecting my new goodies this week!! I am so excited! This blog is really great for me because it keeps me challenged. I don't want to post the same idea all the time or the same colors, or stamps. Now I find that I am buying more stamps (darn) :) I should probably dig out some of the older sets that I have and try using those as well. Anyway, I just want to thank you for all your wonderful comments. You guys are the best and you make me want to keep going! Thanks again!!

Today's card was inspired from the recent Cards magazine. My friend Emily got me this new Tea Party designer paper. It is really pretty! And very spring like! I love it! However, I found it hard to use. I have gotten so into the earth colors. I am hoping that I will be able to find myself in these colors again by using more of this paper. Thanks, Emily! Also, I did dig out an older set for this card. Butterflies seem to be really popular these days. And with spring comes more butterflies! Well, enough ramblings (I guess that's what happens when I have typed at you in a while - :)) Thanks for stopping by!

Springy Thanks

Good afternoon everyone! It's another great day here in western Colorado! Tomorrow is supposed to be "breezy". Yuck! I hate breezy! That really means another bad hair day. Like I need more of those! Anyway, I will enjoy this day!

Today's card layout is from another of Becky's card class cards. I used my Texturz plates. I also used the flower stamp from the level one hostess set (sorry can't remember the name). The 'thanks' comes from the Thank You Kindly set and I just inked up the 'thanks' part. A fun simple and very versatile layout! I hope you are inspired as well! Thanks for stopping by!!

P.S. I probably won't be back until this weekend. Sorry :( I will miss you!!

Celebrate Silouhette

Good day all! I hope that you are having a fabulous start to the week. It's Monday anyway! Nothing unusual here. Just my lunch break so I am trying to get a ton of stuff done before the kiddos come back from their recess. They really run around out there because they come back very stinky!!! I hope that the person in charge of the air conditioner turns it on soon!! I need the fresh air - ha!!

Today's card layout was inspired by the talented Becky! We did this layout in her card class last month. I just changed it to include Stampin' Up! products and here it is! I hadn't used this stamp yet. And please forgive me, but I can't remember the name of it! Yikes! This stamp is one that SU! is selling as an individual. These are located at the very back of the catalog (the last page). Thanks for stopping by!

Urban Birthday

Happy March everyone! It is definitely spring around here! In fact it seems warmer outside than it does in the house. Now, go figure! I am sorry that I am a little slow in posting today. I did make some cards while I was at Becky's on Friday. Not very many, but a few. So, I guess I better get busy and start creating! That's what I love about the blog, it keeps challenging me.

This card layout came from a card my friend Becky did at her recent card class. Of course she used different stamps, paper and ink but the layout is pretty much the same. The scallop circle is a die for the Big Shot. Well, I better get back to my laundry! Thanks for stopping by!
