CCMC 284

Good morning, Friends! Create with Connie and Mary have a fabulous color challenge for us today! Take a look!

And my card...

I don't know if you can tell or not but I used the wrong color again - UGH! I used Melon Mambo instead of Strawberry Slush. And I was so excited to use Strawberry Slush! Oh well. You can hardly tell the difference so that makes it a little better. It's my birthday month so I thought I would create a birthday card with these colors. Here are the details:

  • Card base is Melon Mambo (should be Strawberry Slush)
  • Use the scallop trim border punch to punch the top of a piece of Bermuda Bay card stock and a 1" circle punch to round the bottom corners of the card base and the Bermuda Bay layer then tie a piece of Basic Black 1/8" taffeta ribbon around it
  • Adhere panel to card
  • Use the 2 3/8" scallop punch to punch a scallop circle from Basic Black
  • Stamp cupcake bottom from Create a Cupcake in black StazOn onto Whisper White and punch out with the 1 3/4" circle punch then adhere to scallop circle
  • Use the white chalk marker to add dots to each scallop
  • Stamp cupcake top in Melon Mambo (should be Strawberry Slush) onto Whisper White and punch out with the cupcake builder punch and adhere with dimensionals
  • Adhere scallop circle to card with dimensionals
  • Stamp greeting in black StazOn onto a strip of Whisper White and adhere to card
  • Punch a flower from Bermuda Bay using the itty bitty shapes punch pack and adhere to cupcake
  • Add a rhinestone to flower center
See more inspiration from the very talented design team at Create with Connie and Mary! I hope you will play along with us this week! I always look forward to seeing what you create with our challenges! Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Time to get back to the routine! Before I get to the Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge, I need to announce that I am stepping away from the Sketch Frenzy Friday design team. So now to see the sketch that Jennifer Weide created for us!

  • Layer of Pool Party
  • Stamp sentiment from Create a Cupcake in black StazOn and tie a piece of Summer Starfruit stitched satin ribbon around the panel then adhere to card

SFF 060713

Time again for another challenge at Sketch Frenzy Friday! This week's sketch was created by Robbie Rubula. Take a look!

Such an interesting sketch that had me perplexed at first. Then I saw my washi tape and a light bulb went off! Take a look!

I am really loving the washi tape!! That stuff is SO much fun! And so easy to use!! So I used the Gingham Garden washi tape and adhered the three strips diagonal onto a piece of Whisper White card stock. I stamped the sentiment from Create a Cupcake in Night of Navy and then adhered this panel to a piece of Night of Navy (looks like black). This panel is then popped up onto a card base of Whisper White. On another piece of Whisper White I stamped the cupcake bottom in Night of Navy and the top in Daffodil Delight. I punched these out using the cupcake builder punch and popped them up onto the card. I stamped the flower image using Melon Mambo and Pear Pizzazz markers and cut it out. This is adhered to the cupcake top and a rhinestone is added to the center.

Be sure to visit the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog for more incredible inspiration! I hope you'll play along with us this week! We sure do love to see what you all come up with! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Retro 62

Good morning, Friends! Wow! It has really been raining around here! I think it rained most of the night and it's still going strong! Woohoo!! We are so happy for that! I love the rain! I even got to hear thunder a couple of times yesterday! I'm just so glad it's not snow around here! I did see on the weather report that it would be snowing in the mountains. And that makes me happy when I don't have to travel over them - lol! Moisture! We really need it! I think the rain is inspiring me to stamp today! I hope to find my mojo again.

Today's card was inspired by the sketch from Retro Sketches. I once again was drawn to use the Epic Day designer paper. So I took a piece of that and wrapped a piece of Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon around it. I tied a Daffodil Delight button to the ribbon using linen thread. This piece is adhered to a strip of Gumball Green that was punched with the scallop edge border punch. Then I popped this up onto a card base of Crumb Cake. Then I stamped the cupcake bottom from Create a Cupcake in Crumb Cake and the top in Calypso Coral onto Very Vanilla. I punched these out with the Cupcake builder punch and popped them up onto the card. I stamped the sentiment in Crumb Cake onto a strip of Very Vanilla and flagged both ends. This is adhered to the card. Finally I punched a flower from the Epic Day designer paper using the itty bitty shapes punch pack and added it to the cupcake with a pearl. Oh and everything got a sponge bath in Crumb Cake. :) Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!!

Good Friday morning everyone! It's the last day of November, it's Friday, AND it's Jennifer Weide's birthday!! Woohoo!! It's also the day that Sketch Frenzy Friday provides a new sketch challenge to play along with! This week's sketch was created by Kim Innis. Take a look!

Cute and simple! Love it! And in honor of Jennifer's birthday, I made a birthday card!

I have no idea if Jennifer likes pink but I wanted to try some different colors other than Christmas. So I went with Pink Pirouette, Primrose Petals and then a little Baja Breeze and So Saffron. Got this combination from the Color Coach. Such a great tool to get me out of a color rut - lol! So I started off by punching a 1 3/4" circle from silver glimmer paper. This is adhered to a piece of Pink Pirouette. Then I adhered a strip of Primrose Petals that was run through the Big Shot using the Tasteful Trim die. I used the Essentials Paper Piercing pack to pierce around the silver circle. Then I tied some Pink Pirouette taffeta ribbon around this. I stamped the greeting from Create a Cupcake in Primrose Petals and popped this panel up onto a card base of Primrose Petals. Then I stamped the cupcake bottom in Baja Breeze and the top in So Saffron and punched them out with the cupcake builder punch. These are popped up onto the card. For the finishing touch I punched a flower from Primrose Petals using the Itty Bitty punch pack and added a rhinestone.

Be sure to visit the Sketch Frenzy Friday website to see what all the other designers did with this sketch! I hope you will be inspired and find some time to play along with us this week! We always love to see what you come up with! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!! Happy Birthday, Jennifer!!

FTL 199 - Happy Birthday, Sherry!!

Good morning, Friends! Home again, home again! Now to get some laundry done, grocery shopping, stamping, sewing... Oh and Nick spent the night at a friend's house and I will need to run them to the rec center in a little while... Then he has soccer camp later tonight... I hope I get a lot done - lol!! We had a great weekend, though! We will be on the road again this weekend. I'm so thankful that we get to to this! It can get tiring but it is so much fun and a great way to spend time together as a family!!

Today's card was inspired by the sketch from Clean&Simple. It was their sketch from last week. Last Wednesday we celebrated our friend's birthday, which is actually today - Happy Birthday, Sherry!!! This is the card that I gave her. I started with a strip of Whisper White that was flagged at the bottom. Then I punched two strips of Midnight Muse with the dotted ribbon scallop punch and adhered them behind the strip. This panel is popped up onto a card base of Whisper White. On scraps of Whisper White I stamped the cupcake bottoms from Create a Cupcake in Midnight Muse and the tops in Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petals, and Baja Breeze. These were all punched out with the cupcake builder punch. I popped these up onto the card. Then I punched flowers from Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petals, and Baja Breeze using the itty bitty shapes punch pack. I added a rhinestone to each flower center. I stamped the greeting on a strip of Whisper White in Midnight Muse and flagged both ends before adhering it to the bottom cupcake. Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

CFC 51 Happy Birthday!

Good morning, Friends! I hope your weekend has been fantastic! Ours was another busy one with another quick trip to south Denver. Most people went right home after the game but Pat and Nick had tickets to the Rockies game and met some friends of ours there. So I dropped them off and came to the hotel and watched it on t.v. They were off to a super start and then things pretty much fell apart for them. And then the rain started and that's when the boys all came back. Too bad for the Rockies. But it sounds like everyone had a great time! A home run ball got close to where they were sitting!!

Today's card was inspired by the theme at CAS-ual Fridays. The challenge was to create a clean and simple birthday card. I took a piece of the Just Add Cake designer paper and adhered it to a piece of Early Espresso and then to a piece of Whisper White. This is all popped up onto a card base of Whisper White. Then I took a strip of Whisper White and flagged both ends before stamping the greeting from Create a Cupcake in Early Espresso. This is adhered to the card. I punched a 1 3/4" circle from Whisper White and popped this up on the card. On a scrap of Whisper White I stamped the cupcake bottom in Wild Wasabi and the top in Blushing Bride. These were punched out with the cupcake builder punch and popped up on the circle. Then I punched a flower from Poppy Parade with the itty bitty shapes punch pack and added a rhinestone. Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Retro 6

Good morning everyone! I hope your week is going great! It seems to be going really fast around here! I can't believe that we are in the middle of another week and almost half way through this month! Today is supposed to be windy. Oh joy! My sinuses are already throwing a party!! But I do hope this next front brings lots of rain because we so desperately need it!

Today's card was inspired by the sketch at Retro Sketches. I also did this one at this month's stamp club. I LOVE this cupcake set and coordinating punch! And the colors in the Just Add Cake designer paper are so fun together! I took a piece of Just Add Cake designer paper and adhered it to a piece of Poppy Parade. This panel is popped up onto a card base of Whisper White. Then I cut a piece of Poppy Parade using the Perfect Pennants die. I punched a circle of Whisper White with the 1 3/4" circle punch. These two are adhered together and popped up onto the card. Then I stamped the cupcake bottom from Create a Cupcake in Wild Wasabi and the top in Blushing Bride. These are punched out with the cupcake builder punch. I popped these up onto the circle. Then I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of Whisper White and tucked it behind the cupcake. My finishing touch was to add a flower that was punched from So Saffron with the itty bitty shapes punch pack and add a rhinestone. Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Retro #4

Good morning, Friends! I hope your week is going great! Nick went back to school with a little bit of the allergies hanging on but seemed to do just fine. It really helps when the wind machine is turned off - lol! The news last night had said that we were in for a bad allergy season this year. Oh joy!

Today's card was inspired by the sketch challenge at Retro Sketches. This is a newer sketch challenge blog (this is their 4th challenge). I discovered them while browsing different blogs. Their sketches are very simple in design and I find that I can even use their older sketches! Very fun! Anyway, I used my Create a Cupcake stamp set and coordinating Cupcake Builder punch for this card. I stamped the cupcake bottom in Baja Breeze and the cupcake top in So Saffron onto scrap pieces of Whisper White and punched them out. These were popped up onto a 1 3/4" circle of Whisper White which was adhered to a circle that was die cut from So Saffron using the circles #2 die and then adhered to a 2 3/8" scallop circle of Poppy Parade. My card base is Whisper White. I added a strip of designer paper from the Just Add Cake paper pack and flagged one end. I popped up the circle element onto the card. Then I stamped the greeting in Poppy Parade onto a strip of Whisper White and flagged both ends of this before popping it up onto the card. My final touch was to punch a flower from Poppy Parade using the itty bitty shapes punch pack and add a rhinestone. Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

SFF 123011

Good Friday morning everyone! Wow! The 2011 year is about to close out! I can hardly believe it! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season! And I hope that you will find some time to play along with us at Sketch Frenzy Friday. This week's sketch was created by Sharon Wheet. Take a look!

And here is what I came up with!

Since I made most of these cards before I left for Christmas vacation, I needed to remind myself that I should make cards other than Christmas. It's hard for me to shift gears like that. So to make it easier for me, I turned to the Create a Cupcake set and coordinating cupcake builder punch. I can always count on these two things to help me create a quick, easy and cute card! I started with a card base of Blushing Bride. Then I adhered a piece of Poppy Parade that I had run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. Then I took a piece of Early Espresso and adhered a piece of designer paper from the Just Add Cake pack. Around this I wrapped a piece of Poppy Parade poly twill ribbon. I added a tail that is tied with a piece of white baker's twine. This panel is popped up on the card. Then I punched a piece of Early Espresso with the 2 3/8" scallop circle punch. I adhered a piece of Whisper White card stock that was cut with the circles #2 die. This is popped up onto the card. Then I stamped the cupcake top in Blushing Bride and the cupcake bottom in Wild Wasabi onto Whisper White and punched them out with the cupcake builder punch. These were popped up on the circle. Then I punched out a heart from Poppy Parade and adhered it to the cupcake. I stamped the greeting in Early Espresso onto the card and added three little rhinestones.

Polka Dot Cupcake

Good morning, Friends! I can't believe there are only a few more days until Christmas! Here we celebrate Christmas a little unconventional like - lol! We travel to Kansas to see my family at Christmas so we have to make Christmas at different times. Sunday, we celebrated with my husband's family that live around here. His parents are traveling to Kansas as I type! And since we will be traveling tomorrow, we celebrated last night and this morning. Yesterday was Nick's last day for the quarter and now we are on vacation! Today I will get my haircut, do mounds of laundry and get packed!

Today's card is one that I did with my stamp club this month. I wanted to stay away from Christmas cards so I did a birthday card. I am sure you know how much I love this cupcake set and coordinating punch! It makes super easy and cute cards! I started with a card base of Whisper White. Then I took another piece of Whisper White and ran it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. To this I attached a piece of designer paper from the Just Add Cake pack. Then I tied a piece of Baja Breeze 1/8" taffeta ribbon around it before adhering it to the card. I punched a scallop circle from Peach Parfait. I used my circles #2 die to cut the circle from Whisper White. These two are glued together and then popped up on the card. Then I stamped the cupcake bottom in Early Espresso onto Whisper White and the cupcake top in Peach Parfait and punched them out with the Cupcake builder punch. These are popped up onto the circle. My final touch was to punch a little flower from Baja Breeze using the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. This is attached to the cupcake with a glue dot and a rhinestone is added for some bling! Cute! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Poppy Parade Birthday

Good morning, Friends! Well, here we are at the start of another week that will probably go just as fast as the one before it! I just can't believe how time flies! At least it will be a "normal" week for us. Nothing too exciting will be going on.

Today's card was inspired by several layouts, including one from the catalog. I just kind of combined different elements from each and put this together! It is pretty simple. Because the ribbon is so bulky, I had to use two dimensionals stacked on top of each other to pop up the circle.

Be sure to come back tomorrow for the Control Freaks blog tour! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Create a Cupcake; Paper- Poppy Parade, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Just Add Cake designer paper; Ink- Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Early Espresso; Accessories- Poppy Parade poly twill ribbon, 2 1/2" circle punch, Perfect Pennants die, itty bitty shapes punch pack, basic rhinestones, dimensionals

SFF 090911

Good morning everyone! It's finally Friday and time for another great sketch challenge from Sketch Frenzy Friday! This week's sketch comes from Kim Innis. Check it out!
And here is what I came up with:

I am beginning to think that I use this cupcake set and punch every week! But it is so great!! The cupcake bottom, from Create a Cupcake, is stamped in Poppy Parade and the top in Peach Parfait. This is punched out with the cupcake builder punch and popped up onto a 1 3/4" Early Espresso circle. The other two circles are 2" and 2 1/2" and are cut from the Just Add Cake designer paper. But before I glued them down I cut a piece of Poppy Parade and a piece of Confetti white and tied a piece of Poppy Parade poly twill ribbon around it. Then I adhered the two bigger circles and popped up the smaller one. I stamped the greeting in the lower right hand corner in Early Espresso and popped the entire panel onto a Confetti White card base. My final touch was a flower punched using the itty bitty shapes punch pack in Baja Breeze and a rhinestone jewel.

A fantastic sketch! Click 'here' to see what Jennifer did with this sketch. Keep going through the tour to find inspiration. Then go and create your own project using this awesome sketch. Be sure to upload it to the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog so we can all see! I always look forward to seeing what you do with our sketches! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Good Friday morning everyone! I hope you are ready for a great sketch challenge from the team at Sketch Frenzy Friday! this week's sketch is brought to you by me!! Take a look:

And here is what I came up with:

Have I ever said how much I LOVE the cupcake set and punch? Because I do!! You can put a card together so fast and it will always turn out so cute! I also love the Just Add Cake designer paper! The colors are so happy! For my card I started with a card base of Baja Breeze and then added a strip of designer from the Just Add Cake pack. My focal point it Whisper White layered on Poppy Parade. The greeting from the Create a Cupcake stamp set. Then on scrap Whisper White I stamped the cupcake bottom in Poppy Parade and the top in Baja Breeze and punched them out with the cupcake builder punch. These are popped up above the greeting. In the upper left hand corner I put a brad in and then I glued a piece of Poppy Parade poly twill ribbon on the back and the whole panel is popped up. And that's it!

So now it's time for you to click 'here' and see what Jennifer did with this sketch. Keep clicking your way through the tour to get inspired and then make your own wonderful creation. I hope that you will upload it to the Sketch Frenzy Friday website so that we all can see! I look forward to seeing what you can do with this sketch! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

FTL 151

Good morning, Friends! Wow, halfway through another week! Nick commented on how fast the days seem to go. I hope he still feels the same way when I have to get him up in just a few minutes - lol! He is SO not a morning person. But this is good for him so that he can start preparing for school that starts in just a few short weeks! Need to get the last minute school shopping done...

Today's card comes from the sketch at Clean&Simple.  They made a square card but I stretched it out and made a regular sized card. I do like the way it turned out! I went to my Color Coach for these colors of Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip and So Saffron. Then added a tiny bit of Pool Party. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

SFF 072211

Good Friday morning! Time for another great sketch challenge at Sketch Frenzy Friday! This week's sketch is brought to us by Tammy Baldwin! Take a look!

Now, I have the hardest time with the diamond shape in my creations. I have a hard time getting them even and straight and centered. But something came to mind and here is what I finally came up with. Check it out!

Not too bad, eh! I am very happy with how it turned out! And may I say that I am SO thrilled that the cupcake set and punch are in the new catalog! Love them both!! I started with a card base of textured Wild Wasabi. Then I cut a square of designer paper from Just Add Cake and a square of Peach Parfait. The Peach Parfait square went through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and then got sponged. I also wrapped a piece of Baja Breeze narrow taffeta ribbon around that. Then it was popped up on top of the designer paper. On scrap Whisper White I stamped the bottom of the cupcake in Early Espresso and the top in So Saffron and then punched them out with the cupcake builder punch. These are popped up on the Peach Parfait square. Then I took the greeting from the same stamp set and stamped it in Early Espresso on Whisper White. This is layered on Peach Parfait that was notched on the ends and glued to the bottom of the card. The last thing I did was to punch a flower from Baja Breeze with the itty bitty shapes punch pack and add a rhinestone. There you have it!

Now it is time to send you on. Click 'here' to go see what Jennifer has made with this sketch. Keep clicking through to get inspired. Then go and make your own fabulous creation and post it to the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog so that we can all see! I do hope that you will be able to join us this week! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

SFF 070811

Good Friday morning! I hope you are ready for another great sketch challenge from the Sketch Frenzy Friday team! This week's sketch comes from Tammy Fite. Check it out!

And here is what I came up with!

Isn't it cute? I really like how it all turned out! I have to admit that I wasn't sure as I was putting it together but after looking at it for a while, I decided that it was definitely cute! As you can see from the sketch, I opted to leave out the bottom border. I just couldn't get it to look right for me. I started with a card base of Poppy Parade. Then I made a square panel of Baja Breeze with a piece of Just Add Cake designer paper and glued it to the card base. Then I used my 2 3/8" scallop punch and punched a So Saffron piece and then added a 1 3/4" Baja Breeze circle to that. This is popped up on the card. Then I used my the Create a Cupcake stamp set and stamped the base in Wild Wasabi and the top in Blushing Bride. Then I punched these out with the cupcake builder punch. These are popped up on the circle. The finishing touches are the greeting stamped in Poppy Parade (from the same set) and the flower that is punched out of Poppy Parade with a rhinestone. And there you have it! I just love these colors!! And they all come from the designer paper!

O.k. Now it's time to go to Jennifer's blog to see what she did with the sketch. Continue through the mini blog tour to be inspired by the design team. Then go and create your project using the sketch provided. Be sure to upload it to the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog so we can all see! I do love to see what you come up with! I hope you will all find time to play along! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

SFF 040811 - Happy Birthday, Melinda!

Happy Friday everyone! And Happy Birthday to Melinda!! Melinda is one of the super talented design team members for Sketch Frenzy Friday and today is her birthday! AND she created this week's awesome sketch!! Take a look:

And here is what I did with her sketch:
Since it is Melinda's birthday, I wanted to make a birthday card for her (and for anyone else who might be celebrating today). I hope you all are not sick of cupcakes. I find them extra yummy - lol! I started with a card base of Early Espresso and ran the front of my card through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. The Whisper White piece has three strips of Whisper White attached to it with Chocolate Chip brads. The strips have words from the Fundamental Phrases stamped in Early Espresso on them. Then I glued it to the card. I attached a piece of Daffodil Delight to a piece of Early Espresso and popped it up on the Whisper White. The cupcake bottom was stamped in Early Espresso and the top in Regal Rose and then punched out and popped up. Then I stamped the flower in Daffodil Delight and Old Olive markers and cut it out and glue dotted it onto the cupcake with a basic rhinestone in the center. There you have it!

Be sure to click on to see what Jennifer did with this sketch. Continue through the tour to get inspired. Then make your creation and upload it to the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog so we can all see what you did with this sketch. Also, as you take the tour, make sure to stop at Melinda's blog and wish her a very Happy Birthday! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Good morning, Friends! I hope you are ready for a super great sketch challenge from Create with Connie and Mary! I think this sketch is one of my very favorites! It is so clean and simple and versatile. Just my style!

And here is what I created:

Simple! I hadn't used the Create a Cupcake set and coordinating punch in quite a while so I pulled it out for this challenge. I love the colors, which I got from the Color Coach. The card base is Pretty in Pink. The next layer is Whisper White and then another piece of Pretty in Pink which was run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. Around these two layers is a piece of Whisper White taffeta ribbon and then they are popped up. The focal point is a piece of Whisper White layered onto Chocolate Chip. The scallop piece is Melon Mambo and this is popped up over the ribbon. Then I stamped the cupcake bottom in Chocolate Chip and the top in Pretty in Pink and then punched them out and popped them up on the Whisper White panel. I stamped the flower from the cupcake set with Melon Mambo and Wild Wasabi markers and cut it out. It is glue dotted onto the cupcake and a rhinestone is placed in the center. There you have it!

I do hope that you will find time to play along with the sketch challenge this week. I would love to see how you use this sketch. Remember to use 100% Stampin' Up! products. Each project you submit gets you an entry into the drawing for a free subscription to Create Summer Edition! So be sure to enter your creation! Connie and Mary will be drawing from the March entries and another time from the April entries. Be sure to see the Create with Connie and Mary website for more details and to see the rest of the design team entries. Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!
