CCMC 204

Good morning everyone! I know that I have been very sporadic with my posts lately. My parents are visiting and we are having a great time! I have chosen to take some time off from stamping and posting everyday. But I will be back to regular posts in a while so keep checking back! I do have my Thursdays challenge cards ready to post and today is another great challenge from the wonderful ladies at Create with Connie and Mary! This week we are being challenged with color.

Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade and Early Espresso are the colors that we are to work with. Very pretty and spring like! Here is what I came up with!

I came across a layout that I really fell in love with. I did use retiring stamps and today is the last day to get these!!! Wow! I can't believe that we get to order from the new catalog tomorrow! Be sure to get your retiring products today! Back to the card... My card base is Wisteria Wonder. I used a 1" circle punch to round the bottom right hand corner. I added a layer of Lucky Limeade designer paper. Then I took a strip of Early Espresso card stock and flagged one end and then adhered it to the card. I took a piece of Calypso Coral card stock and stamped the greeting from Thank You Kindly in Early Espresso and then adhered it to the card. I stamped the outline stamps from Flower Fancy in Early Espresso and the solid images in Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade. I cut these out and adhered the leaves behind the flower. I added a flower brad (also retiring) and popped this up onto a panel of Whisper White which is also popped up onto the card.

Be sure to visit the Create with Connie and Mary website to see their new look! They also are offering early bird pricing on their New Catalog Edition! So many great designers and so many great projects for a great price! Don't forget to make a project using these fun colors and upload it to their site so that we can all take a look! We look forward to seeing what you do! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

SFF 052512

Good morning everyone! The first day of summer vacation has finally arrived! My parents will be coming in sometime for a visit and we are very excited about that! Today we have another challenge from the Sketch Frenzy Friday team! This week's sketch was created by Robbie Rubala. Take a look!

And my card...

Another very simple one. Again, I am trying to use some of the retiring products. I dearly loved this stamp set, Fifth Avenue Floral. And the Mocha Morning was some of my favorite dsp! For this card I stamped the flower from Fifth Avenue Floral in Soft Suede onto Soft Suede card stock. I tore the upper right hand corner and added some Mocha Morning designer paper. This is adhered to a Very Vanilla panel and then popped up onto a Soft Suede card base. I stamped the smaller flower in Soft Suede onto Very Vanilla and cut it out. I added a button from the neutrals collection and some Early Espresso baker's twine. The greeting from Thank You Kindly is stamped in Soft Suede onto a strip of Very Vanilla and added to the flower. The flower is then popped up onto the card.

Continue on the blog tour by clicking 'here' to go and see what Jennifer did with this sketch. Continue through the tour to get inspired. Be sure to upload your creation to the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog so that we can all be inspired by your work! We love to see what you do with our sketches! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

CCMC 203

It's the LAST day of school!!! Boy is my son super excited!!! And so am I - lol! It will be so nice to have some time to not have so many scheduled activities! We will still have a few but not as many. Today is also another challenge from the ladies at Create with Connie and Mary! This week we are being challenged with a sketch. Take a look!

And my card...

I wanted to focus on some retiring products so I puled out some retiring stamps. I stamped the Medallion background stamp on Crumb Cake card stock in Crumb Cake ink. Then I stamped it again on a tag that I made from Very Vanilla card stock. I stamped it off before I stamped it on the tag to make it lighter. I sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink. I adhered a strip of Chocolate Chip card stock to the card. To the tag I added a piece of the Chocolate Chip scallop dots ribbon with a 5/16" Chocolate Chip brad. I stamped the greeting from Thank You Kindly on a strip of Very Vanilla and flagged both ends. This is attached to the tag and the tag is popped up on the card. Very monochromatic and simple!!

Be sure to visit the Create with Connie and Mary website to see what the other fabulous designers did with this sketch! Be sure to upload your creation to the site so that we can all see what you did! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Retro 10 - The Leaves are Leaving

Good morning, Friends! Another week that seems to be flying by! I got so much done in my craft room yesterday! I took 10 loads out to the dumpster!! I couldn't believe some of the things that I was storing! Some of that stuff has been there for at least a decade! Yikes!! It was so nice to get rid of that stuff and be able to store stuff that needed a home. I still have quite a ways to go but it is definitely coming along! Now I need to spend some time getting some cards stamped and the laundry needs to be attended to as well. Oh, and I do need to go to the grocery store...

Today's card was inspired by a sketch at Retro Sketches. This one was last week's but I really liked the layout. Again, I am trying to use up the retiring products. The only things on my card not retiring are the silver brads, the embossing folder, the Early Espresso ink, and the Very Vanilla card stock. I cut a narrow long piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the greeting from Thank You Kindly in Early Espresso toward the bottom. This panel is adhered to a piece of Peach Parfait that was run through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder. I wrapped a piece of Pear Pizzazz seam binding ribbon around this and added three silver brads. This panel is popped up onto a card base of Very Vanilla. On a scrap piece of Very Vanilla I stamped the leaf image from Autumn Splendor in Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait and cut them out. The Peach Parfait leaf is glued flat and the Pear Pizzazz leaf is popped up. I will really miss these leaves! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

FTL 183

Good morning, Friends! I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend! I can't believe that we are at the end of March! Spring has definitely sprung and it almost feels like summer! Yikes! What will this summer feel like? I got my first sunburn of the season yesterday. Nick was supposed to have a soccer game but the other team didn't show up. Don't ask me how mad we all are about that (this was the second time they stood us up). So the coach took the opportunity to practice a little with the boys and the parents got to chat and bask in the sun! It was a gorgeous day!! Today will be much of the same and Nick has baseball practice. I had better put the sun block on today!

Today's card was inspired by the layout at clean&simple. I got to playing with the sketch and came up with the idea of making a sunflower! I am really into sunflowers (maybe because of where I am from - lol). I cut a scallop circle from Daffodil Delight with the scallop circles #2 die. The scallops by themselves were not much of a flower look for me so I cut into each scallop and that satisfied me! Then I punched a circle from Early Espresso card stock with the 2 1/2" circle punch and ran it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. I adhered these together and glued the flower to the card base of Whisper White. Part of the flower hangs off the card and so I cut the remainder off. I free hand cut a stem from Lucky Limeade card stock and tucked it under the flower. I used the Blossom Builder punch to punch a leaf from Lucky Limeade and crinkled it a bit before adhering to the card. I stamped the greeting from Thank You Kindly in Early Espresso onto a strip of Whisper White. I flagged one end. This is popped up onto the card. Then I used a piece of Tangerine Tango to cut some butterflies with the Beautiful Wings embosslit. I picked one and added a mini brad and popped it up beside the sentiment. Something different but very fun! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Thank You Kindly; Paper- Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade, Tangerine Tango; Ink- Early Espresso; Accessories- Beautiful Wings embosslit, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Blossom Builder punch, Scallop Circles #2 die, 2 1/2" circle punch, mini brad, dimensionals

Romantic Thanks

Good morning, Friends! Another week seems to be flying by! Nothing too exciting going on around here. I got some new toys yesterday and I am looking forward to spending some time playing!

Today's card is one I did for a swap last month. I really liked the way this one turned out! The black really makes a 'pop'! I started with a card base of Naturals Ivory and then took another piece of Naturals Ivory and ran it through the Big Shot using the Frame Tulip embossing folder. I cut around this before adhering it to the front of my card. Then I cut a piece of Basic Black with the Labels framelits die and adhered this to the card. Before cutting another framelit, I stamped the piece of Naturals Ivory card stock with the Apothecary Art stamp by coloring just the frame of it with a Basic Black marker. This is popped up onto the black frame. Then I stamped the flowers from Bordering on Romance in black StazOn onto Naturals Ivory card stock. I colored them in with a blender pen and Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, More Mustard and So Saffron. I cut them out and added three brads before popping them up onto the card. Then I took a strip of Naturals Ivory card stock and stamped the greeting from Thank You Kindly. I flagged one end and tucked the other end behind the flowers. Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

LNS 160

Good morning, Friends! This week seems to be flying by! We will be leaving tomorrow afternoon to drive part way to Phoenix! Nick has a soccer tournament there this weekend! We are so excited to be getting out of town! But I didn't sleep very well last night - UGH! Why is it that when you don't sleep very well all night long, that you suddenly fall into a very deep sleep right at the moment when you need to wake up? That is SO frustrating! So I do hope that I get the sleep I need tonight for our trip this weekend.

Today's card is based on a sketch for the recent Late Night Stampers group. The new challenge came up Monday morning and I thought - this is perfect for my stamp club (which was meeting that night). And it was! This is what my ladies made Monday night. And easy card and they loved it! My card base is Pool Party with a strip of designer paper from the Everyday Enchantment designer paper pack adhered on the side. I stamped the image from Fresh Vintage using Lucky Limeade, Pool Party and Poppy Parade markers onto a 3" die cut circle from Very Vanilla. Then I sponged the edges with Soft Suede. This is glued to the card. Then I stamped the flower in Poppy Parade onto a scrap of Very Vanilla and cut it out. I put a brad from the Everyday Enchantment ribbon and brad pack through the middle and popped it up on the card. I stamped the greeting from Thank You Kindly in Soft Suede onto a strip of Very Vanilla and tucked it behind the flower. Then I added three pearls around the perimeter of the circle. And there you have it! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Paper Players 80 and 81

Good morning everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start! Nothing exciting going on around here this week. And that is kind of nice right now!

Today's card is from a sketch at The Paper Players. This is actually their challenge for last week but it would also fit this week's challenge, too. So I will probably enter it for that one. But I did use the sketch as my starting point. I took a piece of Baja Breeze and added a piece of Twitterpated designer paper to it. Then I stamped the greeting from Thank You Kindly in Basic Grey onto a scrap of Whisper White and punched it out with the Decorative Label punch. This is glued to the back of the Baja Breeze panel. Then I wrapped a piece of Whisper White taffeta ribbon around this and popped it up on a card base of Whisper White. For my focal point I took a stamp from the Apothecary Art set and stamped just the outline part of the image. Then I took it to the Big Shot and used my Labels Framelits die to cut out the shape. This is popped up over the ribbon. I stamped the flower images from Bordering on Romance on scrap pieces of Whisper White in Basic Grey and colored them in with Blushing Bride, Baja Breeze, Island Indigo, Riding Hood Red and Pear Pizzazz markers. I cut these out and popped them up on the label frame. The little flower in the corner actually has two dimensionals on it! The last thing I did was to add a little bling with some rhinestones! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Fresh Thanks

Good morning, Friends and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We had a quiet evening last night. We got home early evening (picked up our dinner on the way). Then unpacked (the part I hate the most) and then watched some football. After the game we were so tired that we went to bed. Looks like the new year came in just fine - lol! I hope you all had a very safe and fun time celebrating!

Today's card is one that I copied from the Stampin' Success magazine. This magazine is one that Stampin' Up! demonstrators get every month that is filled with beautiful samples and ideas along with great business advice. I saw this card and knew I had to make one, too. The card base is Very Vanilla. Then I cut another piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the images from Fresh Vintage in Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, and Soft Suede. Then I sponged around the edges with Soft Suede and used my color spritzer and Soft Suede marker to add some "splatter". Then I took a piece of designer paper from the Everyday Enchantment pack and flagged one end before adhering it to the stamped piece. Then I popped up the panel onto the card. I stamped the flower image onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla and cut around it and glued it to a Soft Suede piece that had been punched with the blossom bouquet triple layer punch. I used the Everyday Enchantment ribbon and brad pack to add a brad to the center and popped it up on the card. Then I stamped the greeting from Thank You Kindly in Soft Suede on a strip of Very Vanilla and glued it to the card. A super simple card! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Spicy Leaves

Good morning, Friends! Well, here we are at the start of another month! The days are getting shorter and the temperatures are starting to cool off. In fact, in the mountains it was down right cold! The coaches have to move their practice times earlier so that they will have enough daylight. And it sure is a beautiful time of year!

Today's card was inspired by a sketch in the magazine that I purchased (I promise to get the name of it to you all). I may have to start looking for another one as I think I have about used this one up - lol! This is just a simple card. Thanks for looking and have a super day!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Autumn Splendor, Thank You Kindly; Paper- Very Vanilla, Pear Pizzazz, Spice Cake designer paper; Ink- River Rock, Pear Pizzazz; Accessories- Pear Pizzazz seam binding ribbon, neutrals buttons, linen thread, 2 1/2" circle punch, Perfect Pennants die, sponge, dimensionals

Doily Thanks

Good morning everyone! I hope your weekend is getting off to a fabulous start! We just had breakfast and now we are getting ready to go to the first soccer game. We are in Edwards and will drive to Avon for the games. And boy! It is so pretty out here! The trees are so brilliant in the mountains! And our hotel has spectacular views! It is going to be an awesome weekend!

Today's card is one that was inspired by a sketch from that magazine! I hope you are not tired of me saying that, but that is where it came from. Some of the sketches really pulled me out of my "box" but I do like the way they turned out! I hope you enjoy them, too! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

SFF 062411

Good Friday morning! I still can't believe that this is the last weekend of June! Boy did it fly by! Today we have another sketch for you all from the Sketch Frenzy Friday team! Take a look:

This week's sketch comes from Kim Innis. I have to admit that this sketch really stumped me! I guess that means that I was really challenged!! I don't know if I am completely happy with my card but here is what I finally came up with:

I started with a card base of Pretty in Pink. Then I took a piece of Pretty in Pink and ran it through the Big Shot using the lattice die. I put two pieces of Melon Mambo squares behind the lattice and glued it all down. I punched a scallop circle in Whisper White and popped it up on the card. Then I stamped the flower image from Fabulous Florets in Melon Mambo onto Pretty in Pink cardstock and cut it out. I stamped the leaves from the same set in Old Olive onto Certainly Celery cardstock and cut them out, too. The flower is popped up as well. The 'thanks' (from Thank You Kindly) is stamped in Melon Mambo. My final touch was to add a pearl to the flower center.

And there you have it! Time to move along on our mini blog tour to see what Jennifer has come up with. Click here to go to her blog. And be sure to create your own project and upload it to the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog so we can all see! I do hope you will find time to play this week! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Misty Monochromatic

Good morning, Friends! I hope you are having a great weekend! We are in Boulder at a soccer tournament and we have one early game today and then the rest of the day is free! Nick and I came over on Thursday and the team played two games yesterday. They lost their first one and won their second. The team we play today is really good so we will see what they can do! Regardless, it is fun to be out of town! They will have one more game tomorrow and then we will be back home for another week. I can't believe that June is almost over!!

Today's card is the third one I did with my stamp club this month. It is a super simple card but monochromatic always produces such elegant results! I really like how it turned out! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

My First Hybrid!

Good morning everyone! Boy I hate being a slacker but I sure have been these last few weeks! And I really need to get busy, busy stamping!! My allergies have been kicking my butt this last week! UGH!! Finally, last night, I think I had a break-through. I blew my nose and I could breathe!! And I slept awesome!! And this morning my ears are even opening up and my head doesn't hurt! Could I really be feeling better? I hope so!! Can you believe that it is supposed to rain all week and barely get out of the 60's? The central mountains are even under a winter advisory!!! Ha! It is the middle of May, right? Well, at least it won't be so stinkin' hot this weekend when Nick's team plays their soccer tournament. That will be nice!

O.k. I am so excited to share my card today!! I downloaded some new images for My Digital Studio yesterday and I was determined to make a card with them! You see, Friday is the Control Freak monthly blog tour and the theme is Father's Day/masculine projects. Well, I needed some more variety so I went digital! Lots of people are doing it (lol). Anyway, for this card I printed off the sailboat image on Crumb Cake cardstock. The image is actually in Early Espresso ink (or pretty darn close - depends on your printer). And that strip of designer paper? Yup! That's printed off, too!! I added some white highlights to the boat with my gel pen. The greeting and punch and sponging and baker's twine and cardstock are all my additions as well. I love it! Getting the digital images makes it so that you can have the stamp in any size! And the digital images take up less room - lol!! I am excited to do more of these kind of cards! Make sure to stop by tomorrow for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday challenge and then on Friday for the Control Freak blog tour! Have a super day!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Sailing Away from My Digital Studio, Thank You Kindly; Paper- Early Espresso, Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Nautical dsp from My Digital Studio; Ink- Early Espresso; Accessories- Early Espresso/white baker's twine, brads, decorative label punch, white gel pen, sponge, dimensionals

CCMC 150

Good morning! And welcome to another great Thursday challenge at Create with Connie and Mary! They are just having way too much fun over there with getting ready for their Create Summer Edition and all! I think there might be something about blog candy and a guest designer? Hmmm... Better go check it out!! And of course we would love for you to play along in our regular Thursday challenge. This week it is a color challenge. Here are the colors that we are using for this week - Poppy Parade, Sahara Sand, and Not Quite Navy.

I thought that these colors were perfect for a more masculine look! So I came up with a 'thank you' card for my son's teacher who happens to be a male! Take a look:

I started with a card base of Sahara Sand. I decided that I would use the level 2 hostess set, Apple Blossoms. So I took a piece of Whisper White and cut it down the way I wanted it. I stamped the circles background stamp to the left in Sahara Sand. Then I took some scrap piece of Whisper White and stamped the apple in Poppy Parade (and, yes, you do see some green in there for the stem but we won't talk too much about that - lol) and cut it out. On another piece of scrap Whisper White I stamped the greeting from Thank You Kindly in Not Quite Navy and glued it down. I glued the Whisper White panel to a Not Quite Navy panel. I put two silver brads underneath the greeting and popped this panel up onto the card. The apple is popped up as well. And there you have it! A super simple 'thank you' card for my son's teacher. The school year is quickly coming to a close and I can't let it go by without saying 'thank you'! Now to get my son to write inside it...

So I hope that I have gotten you super excited to see what is going on at Create with Connie and Mary! There are so many super wonderful things in the Summer mini catalog and Connie and Mary, along with some very fabulous designers are putting together a great Create Summer Edition! You don't want to miss this! The preview period and early bird pricing is coming to a close. When you leave a comment at their site you are entered to win blog candy!! There is also a surprise coming as well! And while you are there... be sure to play along in our challenge. We love it when you do! I just love to see all your wonderful creations! Lots to see and do at Create with Connie and Mary! I hope to see you there! Have a super day!

TSSC 165

Good morning, Friends! Boy, did I sleep a little late this morning! But I just could not get myself to fall asleep last night! So, instead of tossing and turning in bed and waking my husband, I got up and played around on my iPad for a while. Then I tried again. But, I still had trouble falling asleep. I bet I only got six hours of sleep - and that includes sleeping in! I hope that I am not worthless today! I tend to feel like I have a hangover all day. I hate that feeling! Maybe the sun shining today will help!

Today's card was inspired by Mary Jo's Monday lunchtime sketch. It was another great sketch for this week so I just had to try and find time to play along. I got my color scheme from the Color Coach. As I was putting it together, I wasn't sure that I was going to like it. But I made myself finish. And, it isn't that bad! It made me get out of my "comfort zone". The colors used are Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Marina Mist and Old Olive. Well, thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Hope and Strength, Thank You Kindly; Paper- Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Neutrals designer paper; Ink- Marina Mist, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake; Accessories- Very Vanilla seam binding ribbon, Marina Mist narrow taffeta ribbon, Tulip Frame embossing folder, 2 1/2" circle punch, scallop trim border punch, itty bitty punch pack, Little Leaves sizzlet, basic pearls, sponge, dimensionals

SFF 031111

Good Friday morning! It's time again for another wonderful sketch challenge at Sketch Frenzy Friday! Today's sketch is brought to us by Angela Walters. Great sketch with lots of possibilities!

It was hard for me to figure out what to do with those squares! I tried several things and finally came up with this. I think it turned out pretty cute. And I also got to use some of the totally fun pompom trim!! Anyway, I started with a card base of Tangerine Tango that I ran through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. Then I cut a piece of Very vanilla and four squares from Chocolate Chip and ran the squares through the Big Shot with Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, too. The Very Vanilla piece is popped up on the card base. Then I stamped the spools of thread four times on scrap Very Vanilla cardstock and then again on Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, and Wild Wasabi (once each) and cut them all out. This was probably the most time consuming part but it looks so great when you are done! The spools are popped up on the squares. The greeting was stamped in Chocolate Chip and is from the Thank You Kindly set. The last thing was to glue the Tangerine Tango pompom trim. And there you have it!

Now it is time to send you on to Jennifer's blog to see what wonderful creation she came up with for this sketch. Click your way through the tour to get inspired and then create your own project using the sketch. Upload it to the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog so that we can all see what you did! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!
