And now for the Thursday challenge. This week we are being challenged with color. Take a look at these fabulous colors!

Perfect Plum, Island Indigo and Smoky Slate. I haven't worked with Perfect Plum for a very long time! I forgot how pretty that color is! I will have to try and remember to pull it out more often. Since today is my birthday, I decided to make myself a drink - lol!!

I love the Happy Hour set! Lots of fun things you can do with it! And what a perfect day to make a toast!! Here are my card details:
  • Card base is Whisper White
  • Layer of Whisper White
  • On the layer of Whisper White I stamped the glass image from Happy Hour twice in Smoky Slate and then two more times on another piece of Whisper White using Perfect Plum ink
  • I cut out only the inside part of the glass from the Perfect Plum stamped images and adhered them to the glasses stamped on the Whisper White layer
  • Use the scallop edge border punch to punch a border from Island Indigo and adhere to back of Whisper White layer then adhere panel to card with dimensionals
  • Cut a strip of Smoky Slate card stock and angle both ends then adhere to card
  • Stamp greeting onto a strip of Whisper White using Island Indigo ink and flag one end then adhere to card
  • Add rhinestones to resemble the bubbles from the drinks
Be sure to visit the Create with Connie and Mary website to see what the other designers did with this color challenge! I hope you will play along with us and show us your fabulous creations! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a truly wonderful and blessed day yesterday! It is time for another great Thursday challenge from the Create with Connie and Mary team! This week we have a sketch! Take a look!

And my card...

With Christmas being over, I decided to try my hand at something that would be festive for welcoming the New Year in. And the Happy Hour set immediately came to mind! My card is cut at 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" and then folded in half to make a 4 1/4" square card. Here are the details:

  • Card base is Smoky Slate
  • Layer of Smoky Slate that was run through the Big Shot using the Mosaic embossing folder, then adhere to a layer of Basic Black and then adhere to card with dimensionals
  • Punch a scallop circle from red glimmer paper and adhere to card
  • Stamp glasses from Happy Hour onto Whisper White using Smoky Slate ink and cut out
  • On back side of silver glimmer paper, stamp the glasses again and cut out the inside part then adhere to the cut out shapes
  • Adhere glasses to card with dimensionals
  • Stamp greeting in black StazOn onto a strip of Whisper White, flag the end and adhere to card
A pretty simple card with a lot of fussy cutting. Be sure to visit the Create with Connie and Mary site to see what the other designers did with this sketch! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Good morning everyone! I hope your week is going great! This morning is starting of really cold! In fact we were under a freeze warning most of the night. It is supposed to warm up now and start acting like spring - lol! Yesterday's track meet was actually nice! The sun was out and it wasn't as cold as I thought it might be. The breeze got a little chilly but not bad. And Nick didn't do too bad either! I can't believe that next week is the District Finals! This track season went by really fast!! I was able to get a lot of sewing done yesterday! I am quilting a quilt and I am determined to get it done soon! It really looks pretty good for a first time! I am so excited to see it done!

Today's card was inspired by the sketch at Nacho Average Challenge. I was inspired because it was so unique! While the card looks clean and simple, it was quite a chore to cut all those little pieces! Three of the glasses are cut out and all of the glass insides were cut out as well. The stamp set used was Happy Hour. The card base is Whisper White and a strip of Twitterpated designer paper was flagged at the bottom and adhered to it. All the glasses were stamped in Basic Grey - three on scrap Whisper White and two on the card base. I stamped the glasses again in Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry and cut the insides out to adhere to the glasses. The three cut glasses are popped up and the sentiment is stamped in Basic Grey. I added some rhinestones for some bubbly sparkle :) Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

CAS(E) This 17

Good morning, Friends! Wow! Another week is here! The weeks just seem to fly by! And the year is flying by as well! Tonight we have a informational meeting at the 8/9 school in Fruita! That's right! Our little boy will be in 8th grade! Yikes!! He is really excited, though! And I am, too! It has been so fun watching him grow up! He played in his last basketball game of the season yesterday and did GREAT! The team went undefeated this season! He had so much fun! And you could tell it yesterday! He is sad that the season is over but I know he will find ways to keep playing. Soccer will start later this month and I hope that he will find the passion in that, too.

Today's card was inspired by the challenge at CAS(E) This. Such an interesting sketch! And lots of possibilities! Looking at this card reminds me of the drink I had last night at the Mexican restaurant - yum!! Anyway, I thought this was a fun card. And very simple!! I started by adhering a piece of Island Indigo card stock to a card base of Whisper White. Then I stamped the greeting from Happy Hour in Island Indigo. I adhered two strips of the Sycamore Street designer paper and popped this panel up onto the card. On a scrap of Whisper White I stamped the drink in Island Indigo and again in Summer Starfruit. I cut out the Island Indigo one and just the inside part of the Summer Starfruit one. I adhered these together and popped the glass up onto the card. The little umbrella was stamped on the scrap of Whisper White in Tangerine Tango and carefully cut out as well. This is popped up onto the card. I added a small rhinestone to the top of the umbrella and two bigger ones under the greeting. Thanks for stopping by and have a drink on me!!

CCMC 231

Good morning, Friends! I am here with the latest challenge from the Create with Connie and Mary team! This week we have a sketch challenge!

I decided to try to squeeze one more holiday card in before Christmas.

I thought it might be appropriate to make a Christmas/New Year's card. And Happy Hour is the perfect set for that! I got my color scheme from the Color Coach. I ran a piece of Baja Breeze through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and adhered it to a piece of Whisper White. The top right hand corner of the white piece is rounded with the 1" circle punch. I added two gold brads and then popped this panel up onto a card base of Whisper White. Then I adhered a strip of Cherry Cobbler to cover the seam. I took a strip of Whisper White and used my 1 1/4" circle punch to round the top and make a sort of tag. I stamped the greeting in Cherry Cobbler onto the tag. The glasses were stamped in Baja Breeze and the champagne in More Mustard onto a scrap of Whisper White and cut out. I adhered the champagne to the inside of the glasses and popped up the glasses onto the tag. The tag is popped up onto the card. Then I tied some Cherry Cobbler baker's twine in a More Mustard button, then tied to a bit of Cherry Cobbler and then adhered to the top of the tag.

Have you visited the Create with Connie and Mary website to see the other beautiful creations? You are sure to be inspired!! I hope you will find some time this week to play along with us! We always love to see what you do with our challenges! Thanks for stopping by and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Happy Hour Birthday

Good morning everyone! Well, I guess we have a sick child. He stayed home yesterday and slept the entire day! He woke up for a few hours in the evening to eat a little and then pretty much slept until we made him go back to bed. And that is where he's at right now. It seems to be in his head and his throat hurts and he complains of being achy. So sleep will be the best thing right now. And because he is staying home, I got to sleep in a little, too! Woohoo! I just don't want to get any of that!!

Last night I had stamp club with a bunch of very fun ladies! Love those girls!! Anyway, this is one of the cards we made. I had always liked this Happy Hour stamp set but didn't get it right away. Then it went on sale during the Holiday Extravaganza and I quickly ordered it! Also, I wanted to stay away from doing holiday cards at the workshop because of Christmas being so close. This set is very versatile and can be used for a number of different occasions. So this is a birthday card. I adhered several pieces of designer paper from the Festival of Prints pack onto a piece of Island Indigo and then adhered this to a card base of Sahara Sand. Then I stamped the glass in Island Indigo onto a piece of Very Vanilla. The umbrella is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and the greeting in Early Espresso. This is adhered to a piece of Early Espresso. A small piece of Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon is taped to the back side and then the panel is popped up onto the card. I added several rhinestones to the bubbles and then a bigger rhinestone is off to the side. Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Happy Hour Christmas

Good morning everyone! And happy December! The last month of the year and only 24 more days till Christmas!! There is only two presents under our tree. Yikes! I had better get going if I plan to have something for everyone on my list - lol! Last night I worked on one of my gifts to some friends of ours. Not too much more and it will be done. I have four more in the works. And then there is all the shopping that must be done, too. Starts to add up and feel a little overwhelming. I need to remind myself to just enjoy each day as it comes. :)

Today's card was quickly made for posting purposes - lol! I had just gotten this stamp set, Happy Hour. It was on the Online Extravaganza that Stampin' Up! had last week. I had been wanting this set and thought it was a great time to get it at a discount! And it just came so I put this together using the card from page 178 of the catalog. I stamped the greeting from Happy Hour in black StazOn onto the printed paper from the Festival of Prints pack. And it is very hard to see, especially from the angle that the picture was taken. This is adhered to a card base of Very Vanilla. On top of this is a strip of Early Espresso that has the bottom flagged. Then I cut a piece of Very Vanilla using the Apothecary Accents framelits dies. I adhered a strip of champagne glimmer paper with both ends flagged to this and then popped up it up onto the card. I stamped the glass in Early Espresso onto Very Vanilla and cut it out. I popped this up onto the tag. I stamped the inside of the glass in Cherry Cobbler and cut this out. This is adhered to the glass. Then I used the Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler markers to stamp the holly. I also cut this out and adhered it to the glass. Then I added a small rhinestone to the holly berry. Lots of cutting on this one but it did come together fairly quickly. Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!
