Watermelon Butterfly

Good morning, Friends! I hope you are all able to stay cool! I had a nice quiet day at home getting a lot of stuff done! I am loving my summer! Today I get a pedicure! I think I will stamp a few cards and then work on a small quilt project that I started last week. Here's hoping the summer slows down a bit - lol!

Today's card was inspired by a sketch I saw at Techno Stamper. I kept mine clean and very simple!

• Card base is Whisper White
• On a piece of Pool Party stamp the dots image from the Watercolor Wings stamp set several times using Pool Party ink and adhere to card base with dimensionals
• On a strip of Whisper White stamp the greeting from Watercolor Wings using Tuxedo black Momento ink and flag the end then adhere to card
• On a piece of Whisper White stamp the first layer of the butterfly using Blushing Bride ink, the second layer with Calypso Coral ink and the middle part or third layer with Watermelon Wonder (I did stamp the butterfly body using Tuxedo black Momento ink but you can't see it once you get the button on)
• Cut the butterfly out using the Butterfly thinlits and adhere to card with dimensionals
• Thread a piece of linen thread through a silver basic button and tie a bow then adhere to butterfly body

Hello everyone! I am able to take a lunch hour for myself and since I live so close to the school, I came home for an hour. I did make this card this morning after I took Nick to school. I had about an hour before I needed to leave. I had crossing guard duty this morning and it decided to rain. Thank goodness for a new umbrella! It's raining now. Sure is making it really humid! 

Thank goodness for a super simple and cute sketch from Techno Stamper! Love this one!!

• On a piece of Moonlight designer paper stamp the sentiment from Pictogram Punches using Blackberry Bliss ink
• Adhere the designer paper to a piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock and then adhere panel to card with dimensionals
• Adhere a strip of Black Berry Bliss to card
• Use the Stars framelits to cut a star from Hello Honey and adhere to card with dimensionals 
• Add rhinestones to card

Hello everyone! I had every intention of posting yesterday but the weather put the internet on hiatus. Ugh! I just hate this severe wind! And then I think my computer had some technical issues with wanting to connect with the internet so that was why there was no post. I had a most fantastic weekend with my friend Sherry! And I feel like I accomplished quite a bit! So much fun!!! Right now I am having an iced chai tea latte and a piece of pumpkin bread at Starbucks so I can use their internet - lol! Then I will do a little shopping and meet Sherry for lunch before I head to Lakewood and the New Catalog Premier Party!!! I can't wait to see the new catalog! Woohoo!!

So here is the card that I would have posted yesterday. I used the sketch from Techno Stamper and the color challenge from ColorQ. I really like the way watercoloring looks on the Crumb Cake!

• Card base is Whisper White
• Cut a piece of Gingham Garden designer paper in half diagonally and adhere to a piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock then adhere to card base
• Stamp the flower image from Peaceful Petals in VersaMark onto Crumb Cake and emboss with white emboss powder
• Watercolor image with a blender pen and Elegant Eggplant and Daffodil Delight inks and outline image with a little Crumb Cake
• Adhere panel to a piece of Elegant Eggplant and then adhere to card with dimensionals
• Stamp the greeting onto a strip of Daffodil Delight with Elegant Eggplant and flag the end then adhere to card
• Tie a piece of white baker's twine through a vintage faceted button and adhere to card

Good morning, Friends! I can't believe that this is the last week of February! What beautiful weather we have been having and it makes me think that spring has definitely arrived! I had the windows open for a while yesterday. But I have to admit that I didn't do much of anything yesterday. After I exercised I ended up on the couch watching basketball and then the closing ceremonies of the Olympics. So it was a nice relaxing day for me!! Looking for that motivation and energy to get something accomplished today - lol!

Today's card was one that I did with my stamp club this month. This card was inspired by the sketch from the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. 

• Card base is So Saffron
• Cut a circle from Baked Brown Sugar with the 3" circle die then run through the Big Shot with the Arrows embossing folder
• Stamp the greeting from Geometrical using the Tangerine Tango and Baked Brown Sugar markers onto Very Vanilla
• Adhere stamped panel to a piece of Tangerine Tango
• Use the bitty banner punch to punch three banners from Retro Fresh designer paper and adhere to back of stamped panel then adhere to card with dimensionals
• Adhere two So Saffron candy dots

• Stamp birthday greeting onto Whisper White with black StazOn then color the letters with Summer Starfruit, Pool Party and Crisp Cantaloupe markers
• Punch a strip of Basic Black with the scallop edge border punch and adhere to Whisper White piece
• Tie a piece of Summer Starfruit stitched satin ribbon around this and adhere to card with dimensionals

Good morning, Friends! What a great weekend it has been around here! A friend came to visit and we were able to surprise our friends Becky and Emily and extend Becky's birthday just a bit longer!! My son has spent three nights at his friend's house so my husband and I were able to have a really nice dinner last night for our anniversary which happens to be today! And today is also my father-in-law's 80th birthday! We will be heading up the mountain for a small celebration later this morning! Then tomorrow morning Nick and I will be leaving for Kansas to visit my family and have a wild Fourth of July party!! I can't believe that June is over! Just reminds me to enjoy everyday!

Good morning, Friends! I hope your week is going great! It's just been plain HOT around here! And yesterday the wind blew. Yuck!! Hot wind is not fun and can make one grumpy. But I was lucky enough to be indoors with air conditioning and stitching all day long with some very wonderful ladies! Today is more of the same so I think that I will try to get the laundry done and maybe some stamping? I have a headache right now so I am trying to get that under control. 

Today's card was another that we did at Stamp Club this month. I really love how this turned out! I used last week's sketch from Mary Jo's Lunchtime challenge and the LNS challenge to make a masculine card. I also challenged myself to use this lobster from By the Tide. This image did not "speak" to me when I got this set but I wanted to find a way to use it that wasn't so "in-your-face". I think I didn't like it so much because it was so big. But I am very happy with this! To start with I ran a strip of Smoky Slate through the Big Shot using the Chevron TIEF and then sponged the edges with Smoky Slate before adhering it to a card base of Smoky Slate. Then I used a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge set (LOVE this set) and stamped the spots in Smoky Slate. This is then adhered to a piece of Calypso Coral that was punched on the side with the scallop edge border punch. I popped up this panel onto the card. Then I took a small strip of Soft Sky and flagged the bottom and adhered it to the card. I stamped the circle image from By the Tide in Smoky Slate onto Very Vanilla and fussy cut around it (I didn't want all the space around it that the punch leaves behind) and added a mini brad. This is popped up onto the card. I stamped the lobster image in Calypso Coral onto Very Vanilla and fussy cut around this (at my workshop a lot of the ladies just stamped this directly onto the Very Vanilla and it looked beautiful, too). This is popped up onto the card. Lots of cutting but I thought it turned out to be a very elegant masculine card! No greeting on this as it could be used for lots of occasions! Good morning, Friends! Can you believe that I am actually posting on a non designer day? Wow! I was able to get myself motivated and I was inspired by several sketches so I came up with some cards to post this weekend! Yea me!! I hope this will continue. And I did order some new goodies that I hope will be here early next week. That always seems to get the creative juices flowing again! I am trying to get myself moving a little earlier as I am meeting a high school friend for coffee and then it's off to the soccer fields for the end of the season tournament! Let's go get this, boys!

Today's card was inspired by Mary Jo's Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. I flagged then end of a piece of Epic Day designer paper and adhered it to a card base of Pool Party. Then I stamped the oval image from Oh, Hello in Pool Party onto Very Vanilla. The sentiment is stamped over this in Basic Grey. I used the Occasions paper piercing pack to pierce around the oval. The top right hand corner is rounded and then I added three brads before popping it up onto the card. I flagged the end of another piece of Epic Day designer paper and adhered it to the card. On Very Vanilla I stamped the flower image twice using Calypso Coral and Gumball Green markers. These are carefully cut out and arranged onto the card. The bottom one is glued flat and the top one is popped up. I threaded some linen thread through a grey button and adhered that tot he card. Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

I was glad to be able to make it a masculine card, too! I adhered a piece of Print Poetry designer paper to a card base of Midnight Muse. Then I stamped the coral image from By the Tide in Crumb Cake onto a piece of Crumb Cake. I also stamped the sentiment from Made for You in Midnight Muse and then I sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink. I added three brads and popped this piece onto the card. Good morning, Friends! Well, it looks like the allergy monster has hit my son. Ugh!! And right during testing week. Ugh!! How can he do his best when he is constantly sneezing and blowing his nose? Ugh!!! I want to let him sleep it off but he really needs to be at school and he wants to be at school... I guess we will try it. He asked if he could come home right after testing and my husband said yes. I on the other hand will be visiting with my friend that I haven't seen in quite a while!! And I am so excited! We have lots to catch up on! 

Today's card was inspired by the Mary Jo's lunchtime sketch. I wanted to try out my new stamps! For this card I embossed a piece of Whisper White with the Cloudy Day embossing folder. To the bottom part I adhered a piece of Sunshine and Sprinkles designer paper. This panel is then popped up onto a card base of Whisper White. Then I stamped the greeting in Basic Grey onto a strip of Whisper White and flagged one end. This is adhered to the card. On a scrap of Whisper White I stamped the umbrella pole in Basic Grey and the top in Melon Mambo. I carefully cut this out and adhered them together before popping it up onto the card. I punched a flower from Daffodil Delight using the Itty Bitty punch pack and added a rhinestone. Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Good morning, Friends! It's time to reveal another great challenge from the Create with Connie and Mary team! This week we are being challenged with color! Take a look!

I love these colors! Three of the newest In Colors - Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals and Summer Starfruit!! Very fun!! I kept my card simple by using Mary Jo's sketch and came up with this!

I adhered a piece of Print Poetry designer paper to a piece of Raspberry Ripple. I love how the designer paper has two of the challenge colors right in it! This panel is then adhered to a piece of Very Vanilla and then popped up onto a card base of Very Vanilla. I then adhered a strip of Raspberry Ripple card stock with the end flagged and then a strip of Very Vanilla with the end flagged. On the Very Vanilla piece I stamped the greeting from Sweet Essentials in Raspberry Ripple. I used the Beautiful Wings embosslit to cut a butterfly from Summer Starfruit and popped this up onto the card. Then I took a Very Vanilla button and tied some linen thread through it. This is then adhered to the butterfly. Super simple!

Good morning, Friends! I hope your weekend is off to a great start! We are in the Denver area for soccer games this weekend. I hope the boys play their best! That always make the trip seem much more worthwhile if they play their best!! We will be back in the area next weekend and that will wrap up their soccer season. Wow! That really went by fast! But then we can concentrate on one sport and that is basketball. He is now playing Middle School sports and that means games about every week. I can't wait!

Today's card is one that I did with my club this month. I got the layout from the sketch at Techno Stamper. It is actually from last week but I wasn't able to post it till now. And I thought you might like to see it - lol! Anyway, it is very simple but I thought the glittery leaf really packed a wow! I ran a piece of Crumb Cake through the Big Shot with the Wood grain embossing folder and then popped it up onto a card base of Crumb Cake. Then I added two strips of designer paper from the Orchard Harvest pack. I punched a scallop circle from Early Espresso and a 1 3/4" circle from Very Vanilla. These two are adhered together and then popped up onto the card. I cut a leaf from the champagne glimmer paper using the Autumn Accents die and popped this up onto the circles. Then I stamped the greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Early Espresso onto a strip of Very Vanilla and flagged one end. The other end is tucked under the leaf. Good morning, Friends! I hope your week got off to a great start! It was nice to be home. I got some laundry done and I did a little sewing. I even made a card! I can tell the days are shortening up! It is taking a little longer for the sun to come up in the morning. But it still manages to get pretty hot during the day. I have a massage today and that's a good thing as I have a huge knot in my lower back. It's killing me! And then I will be on the hunt because we have a cricket in our bedroom who is quite noisy at night!

Today's card was inspired by Mary Jo's lunchtime sketch challenge. This sketch was last week's. I didn't get it posted in time to enter but I still wanted to show it. It worked out perfectly for this new stamp set, Winter Memories. I adhered a piece of Crumb Cake to a piece of Cherry Cobbler and then to the card base of Crumb Cake. I stamped the image from Winter Memories in black StazOn onto Very Vanilla and watercolored it with a blender pen and various inks. Then I added two strips of Not Quite Navy that were cut with the Tasteful Trim die. This is popped up onto the card. Then I stamped the sentiment in black StazOn onto a strip of Very Vanilla, flagged both ends and adhered it to the card. I added two rhinestones and called it done! Good morning everyone! Boy that time change always throws me for a loop! I like to sleep in a little but then it is even later when I wake up! Oh well. I still have all of spring break to adjust. But I do need to get ready for the day. Becky and I are going to spend the afternoon working on our wool projects at the quilt store! And then the brackets are going to be announced this evening for the NCAA tournament!! Love March Madness!!


Today's card was inspired by Mary Jo. This time I decided to pull and dust off a set I haven't used in quite some time, Vintage Vogue. I used some of the colors from the Just Add Cake designer paper for inspiration as well. So I started off with a card base of Whisper White and stamped the leafy vine in Wild Wasabi two times. Then I added a strip of Early Espresso card stock with one end flagged. On scrap pieces of Whisper White I stamped the "Friends" twice - once in Blushing Bride and once in Early Espresso. I cut the Blushing Bride "F" out and the Early Espresso "Friends" out. I also stamped the flowers - the big one in Peach Parfait and two small ones in Baja Breeze. And I stamped the leaves in Wild Wasabi. I cut all these out and arranged them on my card. I added Early Espresso brads to the flower centers before adhering them with glue dots to the card. Good morning from Ault! My friend and I are visiting a very good stamping/crafting friend who lives in Ault. Did you know that it means "A Unique Little Town"? Cute, huh! We got here yesterday early evening and had a fantastic dinner! Then we did some wool appliqué the rest of the evening! Today we are going to have a wonderful breakfast and then we are going on a field trip to various stamping and quilting stores. Fun, fun fun!!! 


Today's card was inspired by Mary Jo's Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. I really liked the sketch and had fun with this card. I tried some different colors, too. My card base is Riding Hood Red with a piece of Basic Gray that was run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. Then I stamped the greeting from Friendly Phrases in Basic Gray onto Whisper White and added two silver brads. This was adhered to the card and then a piece of Twitterpated designer paper. Then I stamped the flower from Mixed Bunch in Riding Hood Red onto Whisper White and punched it out with the Blossom punch. I also used the Blossom punch to punch out a flower from Riding Hood Red card stock and then from Pear Pizzazz card stock. The two Riding Hood Red flowers are adhered together. I cut two petals from the Pear Pizzazz flower and used them as leaves and adhered them behind my flowers. This is popped up onto the card. Then I took a Basic Gray button and tied a bow with the white baker's twine. I glue dotted this to the middle of the flower. And there you have it! Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Good morning everyone! What a beautiful day! The sun is shining and the skies look to be clear! It is still really chilly this morning but I think it is going to be very nice!! Nick has a little soccer thing he is doing this afternoon but other than that I am looking forward to just having a restful weekend! I got some stamping done yesterday and even got to work on my wool appliqué projects. My friend Becky and I have been taking classes. We have one more class next month to learn how to finish the entire project. So in the mean time I am working on some other projects, too. I really do like it!!


Today's card is one that I did for Mary Jo's Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. I liked this layout! Something fun and different - well, at least different for me. I love how the circle highlights the scallop. My card base is Calypso Coral. Then I added a circle of Early Espresso that I cut using the 3" circle die. Then I ran a piece of Wisteria Wonder card stock through the Big Shot with the Stripes embossing folder and tied a piece of Early Espresso narrow taffeta ribbon around it before adhering it to the card. I used the Perfect Pennants die and a piece of Calypso Coral card stock to cut a scallop circle. This is popped up on the card. Then I punched a piece of Whisper White with the 2 1/2" circle punch and stamped the flower from Sprinkled Expressions in Wisteria Wonder and the greeting (also from the same set) in Early Espresso. I popped this up on the card. Then I added a few finishing touches. I punched a flower from Calypso Coral with the itty bitty shapes punch pack and added a few rhinestones. A pretty simple card! Today's card was one that I did for my stamp club ladies last Monday. It was inspired by a sketch from Mary Jo. I really liked this sketch and I think the ladies did as well! I took a strip of Very Vanilla and stamped the three tea cups from the Tea Shoppe stamp set in Peach Parfait. I adhered two strips of Soft Suede that were punched with the dotted ribbon scallop punch. Before I glued this to the panel, I cut three strips of designer paper from the Everyday Enchantment designer paper pack, flagged the ends, and stamped the greeting from the same set in Soft Suede. This is mounted to a piece of Soft Suede and then popped up onto a card base of Very Vanilla. Then I stamped the middle tea cup in Peach Parfait onto a scrap of Very Vanilla and cut it out. I popped it up over the the stamped tea cup and added a flower that was punched from Pool Party with the itty bitty shapes punch pack and added a pearl. Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!

Good morning, Friends! I really wanted to stay under the nice warm blankets this morning! It is looking really gray outside and looks cold! We are supposed to get some rain so we will see what it does. I need to get up and get ready. Nick has soccer practice and I need to get some laundry done! And I would like to get some crafting done as well. I do need to get ready for my stamp club tomorrow...


Today's card was done for Mary Jo's Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. She posts a new one each Monday so I am getting in just under the wire! I haven't been able to play along in a while so it is nice to get back into it! And a nice simple sketch, too! I started with a piece of Pool Party where I stamped the greeting from Tea Shoppe in Soft Suede. Over the greeting I stamped the flower in Pool Party. I attached this piece to a card base of Soft Suede. Then I took a strip of Very Vanilla and stamped the three tea cups in Pool Party. Behind this strip I attached two pieces of Soft Suede that were punched with the dotted scallop ribbon punch and then glued it down to the card. I stamped one of the tea cups on a scrap of Very Vanilla and cut it out. This is popped up on the card over the tea cup that was already stamped. Then I took a scrap of Daffodil Delight and punched a flower with the itty bitty shapes punch pack and adhered it to the tea cup. Then I added a pearl. A nice easy card! Good morning, Friends! I hope you are having a fantastic start to your weekend! I hope to find some time this weekend to get myself caught up on stamping and card making so that I have something to post. I got a new computer last week and am still getting used to using it. I actually went from a PC to a Mac. I love my Mac so far but I am having to learn a few things as I go. Thankfully I learned how to resize pictures and add a watermark (of some sorts). I have been out of the stamping routine for a while now that I feel like I need something to "jump" start me. I couldn't even get my mojo going last night while stamping with Becky. She did let me borrow a stamp set so I will be trying to get something going with it today. We are currently under a Winter Storm Warning but so far nothing is happening. It is just really cloudy. We will see what happens later today.


Today's card was inspired from Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. My card base is Always Artichoke with a layer of Crumb Cake that I sent through the Big Shot using the Snow Burst embossing folder on the top part and then wrapped a piece of Always Artichoke seam binding ribbon around it. Then I stamped the Christmas greetings from Season of Joy in Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake card stock and layered it onto Early Espresso and popped it up on the card. Then I stamped the tree in Always Artichoke and Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and cut it out and popped it up over the panel with the words. I stamped the snowflake in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and punched it out with the 1" circle punch and added a silver brad and glued it over the ribbon. Then I stamped the greeting in Early Espresso right under the knotted ribbon. Then I decided it needed a little pop of red so I colored a rhinestone with my red Sharpie pen and put it on the tree. Good Sunday morning, Friends! We woke up to another cold morning! There is heavy frost everywhere and we decided to fire up the wood stove to help take the chill off in the house. Brrrr!! Yesterday's soccer game did not turn out the way we would have liked. And it ended up being really cold there, too! We thought that it would be warmer than it was so I only brought a jacket. Ha! Thankfully we had two blankets that I could wrap up in to help. But when we got home we had chili waiting for us to eat - yum!! Today will be a day of watching football! I love football Sundays!
