Sweet Sunday Sketch #24

Good morning everyone! I think that I stayed up way too late last night! We were watching the Rockies game against the Dodgers and it was tied up at the bottom of the 9th. So we sent Nick to bed and we watched one more inning before we shut it off. So I guess I am glad that I didn't see them lose. They were holding their own. I don't think I have ever watched so much baseball in my life! But it sure is fun. Especially when Nick is watching and picking up some little tricks that he can use for himself! We start All-Stars games next week. I am not looking forward to sitting out there in all that heat. Yuck! But that's what it is.

Today's card is created from Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch. I really liked the simple design of this sketch. I don't do well with circles but I do like the way this one turned out for the most part. It's hard to see the greeting so I probably should have stamped it with the Soft Suede but... And I think that I did get a little carried away with the color spritzer. It spitted out more color then I had intended. So there you have it. Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget that today is the last day to order from the '09 Stampin' Up! catalog! Tomorrow at noon the NEW Stampin' Up! catalog goes LIVE!! I will be ready to place my first order! I can't wait! Have a great day!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Teeny Tiny Wishes, Autumn Days; Paper- Kraft, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla; Ink- Soft Suede, Crushed Curry; Accessories- gold brad, circle scissors (even though I used a Marvy punch for this one), color spritzer, sponges, dimensionals

Autumn Leaves

Good morning, Friends! Well, I am still fighting my migraine and that's why I am up so early. But I hope to have it finally knocked out by lunch time. Took my medicine and have a nice big hot cup of coffee. I am ready!! Stamping at Becky's yesterday was very productive and FUN!! Can't wait to show off my creations. While they may not be some of my favorites, I am liking how they turned out for the most part. I want to remind all of you that tomorrow is the LAST day to order from the Stampin' Up! '09 catalog! Wednesday we can order from the NEW '09/'10 catalog!!! And just to let you know, the online ordering system will be down until noon on Wednesday. So no one will be able to place orders until that time. And there is a possibility that customers could experience 'glitches'. So just be aware. I will be placing my order at 12:01!! Can't wait!!

On another note... I tried messing around with my blog to change up the design and layout a bit and viola! I totally messed up the whole thing and I can't get it back to 'normal'! UGH!!! If you are looking for the information that should be on the sidebar, it is now stuck at the bottom. I don't know how to get it back to the side. So, if you are someone who might be able to help me with that, I would LOVE it!! Thank you for bearing with me.

Today's card is one that I made for a swap that I participated in earlier this month. I was just informed that the swaps got mailed out and I can't wait to see them! So, I thought that it was safe to show off my creation. I used a very old sketch from Splitcoast. I really liked how it turned out and it was very simple! I won't lie to you. I did use a non-Stampin' Up! punch to punch out the leaves (1" square punch) but you could very easily cut out 1" squares with a paper trimmer. Anyway, a super simple card using new products!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great start to a great week!

Yellow Rose

Good Sunday morning everyone! I hope your weekend is going the way you want! I know mine has been relaxing and very enjoyable! And today I am going to my friend Becky's house to have even more fun stamping away! I don't really know why I am up so early today other than I can feel a migraine coming on. So I am going to try and nip that and keep it under control (hopefully).

Today's card was inspired by several cards that I have seen and even have done before. This is the watercolor rose technique that I have done before (thanks to my friend Emily that showed me this technique). This time I embossed the rose from Fifth Avenue Floral onto watercolor paper and then did the technique. I tried it on the shimmery white cardstock but it just didn't come out at all right. Maybe my cardstock is old? Not sure but there were some real issues with it! Then I used my Crushed Curry reinker. I really like the results. I just love this technique!! And I have seen people use it with other stamps. So I may have to give that a try as well. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Fifth Avenue Floral, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper- Whisper White (textured), Crushed Curry, Old Olive, watercolor paper; Ink- Crushed Curry, VersaMark; Accessories- Whisper White satin ribbon, white embossing powder, Little Leaves sizzlit, big shot, scallop border punch, dimensionals

Simple Friendship

Good Saturday morning, Friends! I sure looks to be a very lovely day here. And it will probably get hot. But I am hoping to stay inside and get some more laundry done and do some creating. But we will see. As my plans always seem to get changed. I do hope that your weekend is off to a great start. It's Country Jam time around here (started Thursday) and so places in Fruita get quite crowded. So it is a good time to just stay home!

Today's card is one that I made for the LNS weekly challenge. I have a link for Late Night Stamper and you can click on it to find information to become a part of this wonderful group. It is for everyone but we do use Stampin' Up! products. And that's how I became a part of the Royal Blog Tour. I hope that you plan on joining us for the tour! I know you won't be disappointed and that you will find many great ideas using new products from the NEW Stampin' Up! catalog set to debut on July 1!!! Thanks for stopping by!

It's Melon Mambo

I'm such a dork sometimes! Yesterday I was saying Mango Mambo. No. It's Melon Mambo. Duh! Sorry about that...

Good Friday morning everyone! No soccer camp today! And it's a good thing too as it is just pouring rain right now!! So it is a GREAT day to sleep in! But I decided to get up and do a little blogging and drink a nice hot cup of coffee. Remember when I was telling you about how hot it was out here? Well, last night when the front was rolling in, it got just a little chilly. I was so excited for it! I love to open the windows and just let the breeze cool me off. Anyway, enough about the weather. I wanted to show off something to all of you. I know that you may not care but I am just a little 'giddy' over it. It's not everyday that you get to see your last name on a team jersey! I just love it!! He got his All-Star baseball jersey last night at practice and on the way home he decided to put it on. So when he walks in and I see it my heart just jumped out of my chest because it was so full of pride! Anyway, I just had to share. Now on to the card (which is really why you came here, right?)...

So, I found a card similar to this one on Splitcoast. I was looking for a card that would showcase the new designer paper. There is very little stamping on this card. The greeting comes from the new set called Teeny Tiny Wishes. Lots of fun little greetings in this set. Make sure you look at the flower center. I used a small white grommet first. Then I took a rhinestone brad (from the Circle Fire collection) and poked it through the middle. I thought it turned out super! I can't wait for you all to see the new 09/10 Stampin' Up! catalog! By the way, you only have three more days to order out of the current catalog! Don't wait! Let me know if I can help you out with that. Thanks for stopping by!

Kind & Caring Thoughts

Good morning! I hope that you all are having a fabulous week! Well, it got just down right hot yesterday! My son got to go swimming with some of his baseball buddies and he more than enjoyed himself! Last time he went swimming it was still a little cold. He didn't complain about it being cold this time!! In fact, when I went to pick him up, I wanted to jump in and join the others!! But I restrained myself.

Today's card is one that I picked up while 'blurfing'. You can check it out here. I had to change up the stamps but it was the layout that attracted my attention. Simple. Love it! And I really love this new hostess level 3 set, Kind & Caring Thoughts. Well, that's my story. Thanks for stopping by!

Viva la Verve Sketch

Good morning, Friends! It's just too early for me to have to be up like this during the summer. That's the only bad thing about signing up your child for a sports camp. Someone has to take them there! And someone has to make sure that they get ready correctly and that they have everything. I did get him signed up for his next season of soccer for next year. Yeah, we won't go 'there' on how much that cost! Holy moley!! But I do think he is excited about it all and we are too! And then there is baseball. Another three weeks of that. And it's starting to get really hot around here. Busy, busy.

Today's card is my take on a Viva la Verve sketch with a twist that can be found on Splitcoast. So the 'twist' was to have as much white showing as possible. You could only use two colors (excluding the white) but white was to be the dominate color. I kept mine simple by only using black and white. I do like how it turned out. Thanks for stopping by and try to keep cool!

Celebrate Stars

Good morning everyone! I need to make this sorta quick so I can make sure my son is out of bed. Oh, he is such a 'bear' in the morning! I hope that your week is starting out wonderfully! Another hot day today for us here. Hopefully our friends' swimming pool will start to warm up and we can get in. Actually the kids have been getting in but it is freezing in there! I don't know how they can stand it.

Today's card combines two challenges. One is the Sweet Sunday Sketch 23. This is my take on her sketch. I wanted to do something different than the squares and so while 'blurfing' the other day I came across a challenge on OCC. The challenge was to use stars. So I got my brain into creative overdrive and came up with this. A combination of the two. I don't have any Fourth of July stamps so I have to get creative with what I have. And this is about the best I can do. I have two star punches and now I have the Movers & Shapers dies from Stampin' Up! as well. These will be available in the new catalog set to debut July 1!! For this card I did use the Movers & Shapers dies (star, heart, modern label and scallop oval). They are just a slight bit bigger than the punches so they layer nicely! Love it!! Anyway, I am sorry to ramble there. I will say one more thing... the brad beside the greeting was last minute. I never like to put a brad somewhere unless it can be hidden. Don't want anyone to see the brad 'butt'. So, if I do send this to someone, I will make sure to layer another piece of cardstock on the inside. Thanks for stopping by!

Friendly Parisian

Good morning, Friends! My it is too early for me! We had a late night last night and now Nick has soccer skills camp this week. We have to be there in a while and Nick is such a BEAR to wake up! He honestly can sleep till noon. No problem. But I put in my first attempt and as soon as I get this posted I will have to go back and make sure he is up. I hope your weekend was super and that you can look forward to a great week. It is supposed to be feeling a little more like summer around here. I am not going to complain, though. I have enjoyed the cooler weather and rain.

Today's card is one that I kinda/sorta copied. I found this card that I just loved. But I had to substitute my own materials for it. I think it turned out pretty good. It is really super, super easy! Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Live, Laugh & Love

Happy Father's Day! I don't know how many 'dads' I have that read my blog but just in case... I hope that your weekend is going just wonderfully! We took our dad out to a delicious dinner last night. We will be taking him to a brunch in a little while and then we plan to have steak with some friends later this evening. Too fun!! I am so thankful that I had such a wonderful dad in my life and I am just as thankful that my son has super dad as well.

Today's card is one that I found blurfing. I am sorry that I can't remember where I had seen it. Maybe on Splitcoast? I had to change mine up a bit but I do like what the result is. I am trying to get some of the current In Colors used up. A fairly easy card! Thanks for stopping by!

No Embellishments!

Good morning, Friends! What a beautiful day it is here! My husband made it home safe and sound yesterday. He had a great time but is very thankful to be home and to be able to rest his legs and bum! My son (as well as myself) is very thankful to have him home, too. Now there is not much to tell. Life will be getting back to "normal" now. We are getting together with friends for Father's Day to grill. So, I think that we will take him out for dinner tonight and maybe breakfast in the morning. I think that sounds good!

This card is from the Fall To Layout 46 from Clean & Simple. I really liked the way it turned out. I just got this stamp set and was excited to use it. What is so funny is that after I had made this card I was blurfing and found that a sister stamper and made an almost identical card as this one! Check it out. Isn't that too funny? My original idea was to 'pop' the tree in the middle up. But that looked just weird so I opted to have NO embellishments or dimensionals! WOW! You won't see me doing that often! But it was a fun layout and I might give it another go one of these days. Well, thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Another Great Friend

Good Friday morning everyone! I am happy for you that it is Friday! My husband gets home from his bike tour this evening and we can't wait to see him! He had another tough day going over Independence Pass (steep and narrow) but it sounds like it did pretty good. They stayed in Aspen and will be riding mostly downhill today into Glenwood, which is where they started. They will stay for closing ceremonies and then pack up and head home! Thankfully they don't have far to drive. We also had our first practice for All Stars last night. And wouldn't you know it? It starts to rain! I headed for the car but not before I was soaked. And the boys? Well, they kept right on going!! They'll all end up with pneumonia before they even start games!! But they were all excited and I think we are going to have a pretty great team!

As for the card... I think that I have done this layout many times before but it is such a great layout! So easy and packs a 'punch'. Love it! I need to get some of this retiring designer paper used up! I am also finding myself using the textured cardstock more and more. Love it!! And the new In Colors come in an assorted pack of textured cardstock! Yea!!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

P.S. I am getting really excited about the upcoming Royal Blog Tour! I just got my stamp assignment and I am working on ideas (even though I don't have the set yet).

Great Friend

Good morning everyone! I hope that your week is going great! We are finally starting to feel those summer like temperatures! It still is pretty cool in the mornings and evenings but I can live with that! Unfortunately, I think we are still going to feel the heat later next week. My husband called and it sounded like he is doing great. His legs are getting really tired but he seems to be able to keep up with everyone. Today is Independence Pass and I think he told me it's 59 miles. They will end up in Aspen. Then tomorrow it is pretty much downhill to Glenwood Springs - the final leg! He will be ready to rest for a week!

Today's card is one that I made a while ago. I almost forgot I had it. I used an old sketch and I like the way it turned out. It is super simple, too! I did go back and add a greeting next to the butterfly that says 'for you'. If I get that picture taken and re-sized I will add it later. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Felt Fusion Too

Good morning, Friends! I hope that your week is going the way you want it. My husband reported that they rode only 65 miles yesterday. Yeah "only". I am lucky to be able to do 10. Today they have a shorter ride as well. Then tomorrow is another climb. He sounds like he is really enjoying it all and I am so glad as he needed a good vacation. Yeah, not my kind of vacation either. And my son is really excited to start his venture in the All-Stars. He keeps asking me questions about it. And I keep reminding him that I don't know anything either. Tomorrow start his practices. So, it will start getting busy around here. Which makes the summer go faster and I don't want that at all! But what are you going to do. Well, I am just going to enjoy each day!

Today's card was done a while ago. I think that I got it off an old sketch somewhere (sorry that I can't remember). And as I look at it now, the picture is really blurry. Sorry about that! It looked fine just a minute ago. Hmmmm. Anyway, it is super simple as the only thing stamped is the greeting. The flowers are the Felt Fusion Too flowers that will be retiring because they are the In Colors. A fun card, though and lots of possibilities! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Holidays

Good morning everyone! My it's early! I don't really know why I had to wake up so early but here I am! Last night was the closing ceremonies for our Little League guys and girls. Basically it is all about announcing the players for the All-Stars teams. Then there was a short meeting to find out practice times and places. I think that we are going to have a great team! My husband called again last night. They had ridden about 80 miles yesterday. Today is supposed to be a shorter day so he was glad for that. He says it is really beautiful country out there. I think he is really enjoying himself.

Today's card is from an old Splitcoast sketch. It is very simple. I think the hardest part was coloring the stamp with the markers. It was hard to see where the pine bough ended and the pine cones began. But I think it still turned out nice. No, I am not really thinking about Christmas right now. I just thought that this particular stamp lent itself to a more Christmas type of card. I hope you like! Thanks for stopping by!

Card Recipe: Stamps- Autumn Days, Happy Everything; Paper- Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip; Ink- Old Olive, Chocolate Chip; Accessories- Chocolate Chip poly twill (discontinued but grosgrain would be just as nice), circle punch, 2" scallop punch (non SU), dimensionals
