Happy Halloween!! Here we are at the last day of October! I can't believe how fast the time has gone! Since we live in a rural area, I don't think we will be seeing any trick-or-treaters. My husband bought a bag of mini candy bars "just in case". Yeah, right! Lol!! He just wants to eat them himself! I might sneak one in, too. Nick has an early soccer practice for those that want to go trick-or-treating, but I think we will come home and enjoy the football game. And tomorrow we sleep in because there is no school! Yea!!

Good Sunday morning, Friends! We woke up to another cold morning! There is heavy frost everywhere and we decided to fire up the wood stove to help take the chill off in the house. Brrrr!! Yesterday's soccer game did not turn out the way we would have liked. And it ended up being really cold there, too! We thought that it would be warmer than it was so I only brought a jacket. Ha! Thankfully we had two blankets that I could wrap up in to help. But when we got home we had chili waiting for us to eat - yum!! Today will be a day of watching football! I love football Sundays!
Today's card was inspired by Mary Jo's lunchtime sketch. I thought this sketch was really cool! I love the three strips of paper that are flagged at the ends. Lots of possibilities for this one! I am excited to announce that I have been asked to be a guest designer at A La Card Monkey weekly challenge blog! Here is the super fun sketch they have for us!
So many fun ideas to use with these shapes! I used an idea that I got from my friend, Becky and combined it with this sketch. Take a look!
A cute and fun Halloween card! My card base is Basic Black with another piece of Basic Black that was cut down to which I glued my squares to. Then I punched squares using the 1 1/4" square punch - three of Rich Razzleberry, three of Pear Pizzazz, and three of Peach Parfait. Then I used the 1" circle punch to punch circles - two of Rich Razzleberry, two of Pear Pizzazz and two of Peach Parfait. Then I stamped the three images from the Batty For You set in black StazOn on Whisper White and punched out just the images using the 1" circle punch. The image circles are popped up onto the squares while the rest of the circles are glued flat. The squares are glued flat to the Basic Black piece and then to the card. I took a strip of Whisper White and stamped the greeting from Grateful Greetings and flagged the ends. This is popped upon to the card and then I added two rhinestones at each end.

Good morning, Friends! Are you glad it's Friday? Well, here is another reason to get excited about Friday - it's Sketch Frenzy Friday time! This week's sketch is brought to us by Tammy Fite. Take a look:

Great sketch, huh!! So many wonderful possibilities but I really wanted to try out this bat from a piece of ribbon. Isn't he cute?! I just love how it turned out! And it was so simple! I had seen a few people make this little bat from ribbon and thought it was the cutest idea! I just took a piece of Basic Black ribbon and tied a knot in the middle and clipped the ends. Then I used the 1/4" circle punch to punch out two circles from Whisper White and I used my crop-a-dile to punch the smaller circles from Basic Black. I glued them together and then used glue dots to glue them to the bat. My card base is Basic Black with a layer of Pear Pizzazz and then three strips of Basic Black. Then I cut three squares of Peach Parfait (two smaller and one slightly bigger) and stamped the bats from Wicked Cool in Peach Parfait on the two smaller ones. The middle square is sponged with Peach Parfait and matted with a square of Basic Black. The two smaller squares are glued flat to the card and the middle, bigger square is popped up. I glue dotted my bat to the middle square and then stamped the greeting in black StazOn right underneath. Very simple!

I love these colors together - Island Indigo, Baja Breeze, and Rich Razzleberry! And I knew pretty quickly that I wanted to use them for a wintry Christmas card. Here is what I came up with:
This card is so super simple that I almost feel guilty - lol! My card base is textured Rich Razzleberry. I ran a piece of Island Indigo through the Big Shot with the Snowflakes embossing folder and lightly sponged Whisper White craft ink over it to highlight the snowflakes. This piece is glued to a piece of Baja Breeze and then that panel is popped up onto the card base. Then I took a strip of silver glimmer paper (LOVE this stuff) and ran it through the Big Shot with the Northern Frost decorative strip die and cut a strip of snowflakes. I used two of them - the top snowflake has a glimmer brad and is popped up onto the second snowflake which is glued to the card. The greeting, from Four the Holidays, is stamped in Island Indigo onto a Baja Breeze strip. I flagged the end and glued it to the card. Easy!!

Good morning, Friends! It feels like winter has moved in! Actually it is just raining around here but the mountains are getting snow! It would be really easy to stay in bed and snuggle under the covers! Thankfully we can do that tomorrow! Nick has his first dance tonight! I was a little surprised that he wanted to go but I am glad, too. It will be fun to see how it goes for him.
Today's card is another that we did in Becky's card class this month. She said she got the idea from the PaperCrafts magazine. Well, this is my kind of card! I fell in love with this one! Instead of the traditional green tree, I used some of the beautiful Morning Mocha designer paper. I chose one of the pieces that has the gold/copper sheen to it. So rich and regal looking!! Nick starts a new quarter at school today with a new elective that he is excited about. Thankfully, it is a short week! Today's card was copied from one of the cards that we did in card class this month. I just changed it up to use Stampin' Up! products. I had just gotten the Mocha Morning designer paper and was dieing to use it somehow. But I was too afraid to cut into it. I mean it is SO pretty! So I used this card to help get me started and I made several cards with this paper! This is a super simple card and I thought it made a pretty anniversary card (or birthday or whatever occasion). Good Sunday morning, Friends! I hope you all are having a super weekend! We are having some super fall days around here! Yesterday's soccer game was stinky! Well, the boys played pretty good but the team that scores the most goals wins and we didn't win and that's the part that was stinky. It's just frustrating when they play so well but can't win. Oh well. There is always next weekend. Last night some of the boys from his baseball team went to a haunted house. So we took him to meet them and Pat ended up going in with them (some other parents went in, too). I stayed in the car! I am not into haunted houses. I did one once a long time ago and it still haunts me! So this morning, Nick has early baseball practice and then we are going to see if Tim Tebow can carry the Broncos to a win!

Good morning, Friends! I hope you are having a super start to the weekend! Nick enjoyed his day off from school. It seemed so unnatural to have him home and Pat was out working. I kind of forgot what day it was! I wanted to sleep in this morning but couldn't. A migraine is upon me and I am trying to nip it before the soccer game a little later today. Ugh! And I wanted to stamp some, too! Yesterday I was on a roll but had to stop to go to the grocery store. Maybe today I will try to keep the mojo going. But there is college football on... We will see!!

Good Friday morning everyone! So glad it's finally Friday!! Nick doesn't have school today so I will be sleeping in!! Ahhh!! Time for another great sketch challenge at Sketch Frenzy Friday! This week's sketch is brought to us by Tammy Baldwin. Take a look!
And here is what I came up with!
Because the sketch had stars on it, I wanted to use stars so badly! But I just couldn't make it work. So I moved on to something else. Don't know if I am completely happy with this but it's not horrible. I used the Delightful Decorations and the Grateful Greetings stamp sets. I stamped the ornament in More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive on Very Vanilla card stock. I punched out the ornaments with the coordinating punch. Each ornament has a gold brad and the Cherry Cobbler ornament as Very Vanilla taffeta wrapped around it. The card base is Old Olive with a strip of Cherry Cobbler. Then I cut a square piece of More Mustard and stamped the sparkle stamp in More Mustard and then sponged the edges. Then I took the piece and sent it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. This piece gets glued to the card. On the card base in the lower right hand corner I stamped the greeting in Old Olive. The More Mustard and the Old Olive ornaments are glued flat and the Cherry Cobbler ornament is popped up.

Good morning everyone! It's time for another challenge at Create with Connie and Mary! This week they are challenge us with a sketch. Check it out!
And here is what I came up with:
As you can see, I flipped the sketch. I wanted to use this tree image from the Christmas Lodge stamp set. But it is so tall so I flipped my card the other direction. I also wanted to try a different sort of technique. I took the tree image and stamped it in VersaMark onto Whisper White card stock and then embossed it with clear emboss powder. Then I took a sponge and some Garden Green ink and sponged around it to highlight the tree. Then I took a tissue and rubbed the ink from the embossed image. I believe that they call this technique emboss resist. Like I said, it's different! I had also seen a challenge to create a Christmas card with the traditional red and green colors. So I completed the sketch with some designer paper from the Frostwood collection, some Garden Green card stock (to mat the tree image and also scalloped with the scallop edge border punch), and then some Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon. My sentiment comes from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set and is layered on top of the tree panel. The tree panel is popped up on the card. I also have another layer of Whisper White that is glued to the Whisper White card base (so you don't see the back side of the ribbon).

My friend, Becky, loaned me this stamp set. I have always liked it but never seemed to put it on my order. It is nice to have another Halloween set to play with. So what do you do when a friend loans you a stamp? You make a ton of cards with it!! And that's what I did. So there will be lots more to see! Another fun thing about this card is that it fits the Late Night Stampers 1-2-3 challenge. That means we are supposed to use 1 stamp set, 2 embellishments and 3 colors (neutrals don't count unless it is one of your main color choices). A super fun challenge!
