Control Freaks Blog Tour - Freakin' Out About the New Catalog!

Hello everyone!! It's that time of the month again - lol! It's the Control Freaks blog tour! And this month, the Freaks are showing you all some really cool stuff from the brand new Stampin' Up! catalog!! You probably came from LeeAnn Greff's blog. I just love all her work! She is SO talented!! If you got here another way, don't worry. If you click on the button at the bottom of this post, you will be directed to the next blog in the tour. And eventually you should end up right back where you started! Cool, huh!! (please note that if you are visiting this before the 20th, not all the links may be working. so be sure to come back on the 20th for a flawless tour!)

For this tour, I decided to focus on one of my favorite stamp sets - Serene Silhouettes! I LOVE this set!! Great images and silhouettes are so easy to work with! Especially with our brand new ink pads!! My first project is a card.

This is a super simple card but I used a few new products. I took the part of the card stock that was left after cutting the die (I used this for the next project) and used it as a template. I centered it onto a piece of Crumb Cake and sponged Crumb Cake ink to form the shape that you see. Then I stamped the image from Serene Silhouettes and the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Basic Black. Then I used the new Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce the outline of the shape. These new templates coordinate with many of our die and punch shapes! I love these!!! Then I tied a piece of Basic Black taffeta ribbon around this and adhered it to a piece of Basic Black and then popped up the whole thing onto a card base of Crumb Cake. I made this a very mailable card as I will be mailing this today to a young lady who lost her father this past weekend.

My second project is a very simple frame. I really like how this one turned out! I hope you can see all the details on these projects! I used the Apothecary Accents framelits to die cut the shape from Very Vanilla. Then I stamped the image from Serene Silhouettes in Basic Black. I also stamped the words from Sweet Essentials (another new set) in Basic Black. I sponged the edges in Crumb Cake and then used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce the outline of the shape. Then I took the framelit and traced the outline onto Basic Black and cut it out by hand. Then I took a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and ran it through the Big Shot using the new Fancy Fan embossing folder. This is attached to a piece of Basic Black which is attached to the back of the frame. The stamped panel is popped up onto the Basic Black shape and that is popped up onto the embossed piece. I added three rhinestones. I took the glass out of the frame so that you could see all the dimension.

Well, that's it from me! Thank you so much for stopping by! Please continue on with the tour by clicking on the button below to see what Lisa Martz has created. You won't be disappointed! Have a super day!!

  3. Hi Deb - thanks for sharing your inspiration! I really liked your sympathy card - the simplicity and the style - so much so that I cased it for a funeral we are attending today. Except I used the wrong stamp (trees) by mistake.
Thanks again! Love the monthly bloghop!

  6. Thanks for sharing your great projects Deb. I enjoyed both of them so much. The first one sold me on the Serene Silhouettes stamp set and the paper piecing was just the best.

  7. These are gorgeous projects, Deb. I love how you used the left over paper on the first card - and the sponging is done beautifully!

  10. I love your projects, Deb! Always so elegant.

I have a question that is semi-related. What kind of camera do you use to take your pictures? I think I have the same set-up to put my items in (the "photo box"), but my camera doesn't take very good photos. It hasn't been doing well for awhile, so I'm trying to find out what other stampers use! I appreciate any info you can send my way.
    Thanks! ~Jayne

  13. Hi Deb,
I really like this card. I am trying to CASE it but my sponging doesn't seem to look as smooth as yours. Did you use sponge daubers or a piece of the yellowish sponge? And did you do the sponging on crumb cake? I tried that and it doesn't look anything like yours! Did you by chance use white or vanilla? Thanks!
