Good morning, Friends! What a glorious day! It's the weekend! We were able to sleep in a little and I will be getting together with some girlfriends that I haven't seen in quite a while! It will be a great afternoon! Nick got his project done last night and I am so proud of him! With the quarter coming to an end, it is crunch time! He has one other project that we will be looking at this weekend but he is working hard!
Today's card is another that I did for my workshop on Monday. It's a shaker card!! I had bought the shaker frames and mica flakes from the Holiday mini catalog when it first came out but hadn't used them yet. The card turned out to be pretty easy! I started with a card base of Whisper White and added a piece of Pool Party. Then I cut a 3" square piece of Pool Party and embossed snowflakes from the Serene Snowflakes set in White emboss powder. Then I took the largest shaker frame and peeled it off the backing and put it on the 3" square piece to frame the snowflake I wanted. Then I cut the excess card stock away from the frame (basically, I cut right around the frame). Then I carefully added a bit of the mica flakes (don't need much). This is set aside for a minute while I worked on the top part of my card. I took a piece of Whisper White and stamped the greeting from Four the Holidays in Pool Party on the left hand side. I glued the Pool Party designer paper right under it and then took my 1 3/4" circle punch and punched a circle that was close to my greeting. Then I took my ribbon and wrapped it through the circle and tied a knot. I took my window sheet (I cut mine in a 3" square to make sure it was big enough) and glued it behind the Whisper White piece. Before I put my top piece down, I had to add dimensionals to each corner. The problem was that the dimensionals weren't thick enough so I layered them - two on top of each other. Then I carefully removed the backing of the shaker frame to make it sticky on top and laid my top piece right over it. And that's how I got my shaker card! I think the gals really liked this one! Very fun! I hope this will help you in making some shaker cards. There are many other ways to do this, too. Thanks for stopping by and have a super day!
