Hello everyone and welcome to another Freaky blog tour! You might have just come from Mary Brown's blog of amazing Stampin' Up! creations! Beautiful aren't they? If you are starting right here that's great, too! When you click the button at the end of this post, you will move on to the next stop in the tour and eventually end up where you started. And you won't be sorry!! You are about to see some very awesome creations!! Please remember that if you are viewing this before the 20th, not all the links may be working correctly. So come back on the 20th to go through the entire tour without any glitches. Now on to the tour.
This month the Freaks are saying good-by to some of our favorite products that will be retiring at the end of this month. I have so many favorites but I managed to narrow them down to a few that I could show for the tour. I am also trying to use up a lot of my retiring product so that I will have room for the new stuff!! My first project is a card.
My card uses a lot of retiring products - Pear Pizzazz card stock, ink and ribbon, Concord Crush card stock and ink, Pocketful of Posies designer paper, scallop circles #2 die, and the Herb Expressions stamp set. I really loved all these products!! For this card I used the sketch for this past Monday at Mojo Monday. I cut a 3" circle from Whisper White and stamped the image from Herb Expressions using the Concord Crush and Pear Pizzazz markers. I stamped it repeatedly without re-inking. Then I stamped the greeting in Concord Crush. I adhered this to a scallop circle of Concord Crush and then added two brads. I adhered a piece of the designer paper from Pocketful of Posies to a panel of Pear Pizzazz and tied a piece of the Pear Pizzazz poly twill ribbon around this. I popped my scallop circle onto this and then popped the panel up onto a card base of Pear Pizzazz.
For my next two retiring themed projects I chose to highlight the fabric. I have really been into sewing lately (and I am even working on my first quilt), so I decided to use up some my fabric stash.
Now this project doesn't use any sewing at all! I got this idea from Kimberly Van Diepen. I think this is such a FUN idea! And they come out so darn cute!! I was a guest speaker at one of my downline's meetings this past Christmas, and I used this as one of the make-n-takes. They loved them!! Such fun, inexpensive, and super easy projects! And a great way to use up those scraps!!
My next project uses sewing and a pattern.
This pattern was given to me but I believe you can purchase one. It is from Simplicity. I call this a cup caddy but I have also seen them called mug buckets. Anyway, they are super fun to make and quite useful!! I made a bunch of these for birthdays this year and for my son's teachers. Another great way to use up all that fabulous fabric! Here is a closer view of the inside.
There are little pockets on the inside as well as the outside. And then there is a small space in the middle that is empty and works perfectly for my adhesive!! I don't think you could have too many of these around - lol! And I got the mug for 75 cents at the Goodwill store! Bonus!! While I will miss these fun fabrics, there will be more in the new catalog! I can't wait to get my hands on those and start a new project!
Well, that is all I have for you today. It's time to send you on to LeeAnn Greff's blog. You won't be disappointed! Lots of very beautiful and inspirational things to see there! Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!!
Deb, your 3d items are fabulous, and I have been looking for new ideas and I as well have much fabric I need to use up. I will look for that Simplicity pattern.
ReplyDeleteDeb, I can't decide which of your projects I like the best! I'm going to try the pincushion frame, for sure. The Herb Expressions card is just gorgeous. And the cup caddy, well I'm not sure I'm talented enough to make one, but I wish someone would make one for me!
ReplyDeleteMucho wonderful!! Love the "off-stamped" Herbal Expressions! Such a darling little pin cushion ... and your cup caddy is fabulous!! Wonderfully done, friend! :)
ReplyDeleteI am very intrigued with that mug caddy. I can see they would make fabulous gifts for almost anyone.
ReplyDeleteLove your Herb Expressions card also - so soft and pretty, but your layout if just fabulous as usual. You sure have the knack for design!
LOVING the mug caddy! I just went down another 'rabbit trail' as I call it and researched the simplicity pattern, found some others that look promising too. :) Now to convince one of my sewing buds to do them for me! LOL! For those that are interested, it is pattern # 2450 at www.simplicity.com
ReplyDeleteDeb, great projects! I too love each one. Fabulous job, I pinned your mug caddy!
ReplyDeleteWas happy to see your mug cover - I made some of these awhile back and have mine sitting on my stampin table too - a GREAT way to use the fabric. I love your other fabric project - hmm, will have to check that one out. TFS
ReplyDeleteVery cool! Love the card and mug holder thing. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteThat mug caddy is a marvelous idea! So fun!
